the HF notcher uses brass bushings on the spindle...I think....maybe not even that so after a cage or so, they wear out and the spindle starts to wander.

We used the Protools on the hero and it has gigantic sealed rollerbearings that made the spindle rock solid with ZERO wander. a cage and a half later and it looks damn near brand new. we only used one holesaw for the entire cage at 7$ from home depot...

I know the protools is about the most expensive coming in at the 300$ range...worth every penny for a flawless 10 second notch!!!

$300? OUCH. I know with HF you get what you pay for... I will still work with the crappy bends. But it sure would be nice if the notches fit right. I am using milwalkie holesaws... Whats everyone else using? The drill bits in the milwalkie suck my ars... I use a cobalt as the drill hole, then use the milwalkie as a guide drill. Is there a better way?

If it is for you and not a complex production shop the HF should be fine, I have one and I do not know how I did without it and it seemed like it was under 50 bucks on sale .
If you are notching multiple cages and sliders for a business go for the high quality and cost notchers.
