I wish I could select multiple options.

I find satisfaction in building it myself, and I enjoy wheeling a rig I built myself.
I enjoy (usually) the act of creating something.
I end up with it exactly the way I wanted it.
It's cheaper than paying someone to do it.
Since I built it, I know exactly how to fix it. I also know what's likely to need fixing. :ugh:

It's true that you can usually buy a built rig cheaper than you can build one. If you have a specific way you want everything built, the only way to do it is build it yourself, or pay someone to build it. It's either going to be a lot of work, a lot of money, or both.

X2. I do fab work as part of my job. I find it very satisfying when someone looks at what I've built and is amazed with the quality and finished product. And when I see vehicles/machinery I've built and the users are happy with it, it's just that much more of a confidence builder. It is very rewarding work.

My real job does not have much in the way of accomplishments you can see. So when I get to build something, mow the yard, - stuff you can see progress and results - that is fun for me. Also I can't leave anything alone for long, and I don't like to do things the way everyone else does.;):D

I pretty much suck at fabbing, have very limited tools so I either don't modify it or have some of my good friends help me. I try to pay them fairly. I will buy a built rig next time and just go wheeling!

My time is precious, and I would rather be home with the kids or my wife than in the shop, but I do like bs'ing with the boys in the shop late at night. It kills me in the morning though.

Again, I would rather buy it built, next time overkill. (Greg's jeep comes to mind lol)

I only buy stock rigs. I can't stand not starting from a clean slate when I start a project. Nothing will ever perform the way I want it to unless I build it. The perfectionist in me makes me do all my own stuff. Even if I could afford to have BHR build me something awesome, I would still do it myself.

I usually end up buying the right tools to do the job and it costs three times as much as it would have had a professional done it for me. But tools are an investment, right?

I think you summed up my thoughts very well. Time is probably the biggest reason I have decided to buy built/pay someone to build it. Then I can just enjoy the rig on the trail with the family... Recent conversations with the wife have led to the conclusion that after having our TJ built, we're going to have to either buy a 4 seater buggy or have one built, and have two rigs on the trail. Kami is a pretty cool girl :greg:
