Why does my steering suck?

I've got a hydro-assist ram on my 4Runner and my steering has been getting increasingly tighter and harder to steer. I wonder if the shaft on my ram is bent too? Sucks if it is...I mounted it parallel to the tie rod and it hasn't been smacked or anything like that. Maybe time to ditch the ram and go back to just power steering, for me anyway.

I've experienced properly working ram assist steering. It rocks. I would never go back to just power steering. I WILL get this thing working right. You should too. It's worth it. :)

I know what you mean...mine was great when I first installed it, but I don't want to be replacing a ram once a year if they're going to keep going bad. If mine is bad I don't know what would have caused it to bend or wear out. Guess I need to pull mine apart and see if it's the culprit.

My ram has been bent for a couple of years and it works the same as when I installed it. I finally straightened it out so that it would go in and out by hand. You might want to look at how it is mounted if your going to be bending it. I bent mine with the oil pan, but it has always worked the same
