........AND, it is the one that is at the top of the vaulted ceiling so you can't reach in by simply standing on a chair! Happened to me and I had to go get the big ladder and climb up and pull the battery in the middle of the night.

Wow, that is really interesting. I just realized that this constantly happens to me. Why is it that when that one starts beeping and you change all of the batteries in the smoke detectors as a result, only one of them starts beeping in the middle of the night and not all of them?

if you changed the batteries when they recomend it you wouldnt have this problem. dont they suggest replaceing the batteries when you change your clocks for daylight savings.

Here's a question... If I have the newer smoke detectors that run off of the house power with a battery backup then why do the batteries seem to die every year?

the same reason a battery that is just sitting in a drawer goes dead.

But the one in the drawer is still good after a year. It's the one left over from the last time I got batteries for the smoke detector.
