This month (13th) will be 3 year's from Angie's second and most devistating stroke. Just last friday she met with her neuro shrink doc who has visited with her 3 times in the last 18 months. Her first visit was not very positive but Angie was convinced that he was wrong. She was told that she could never be left alone, due to memory and problem solving issues.

Second appointment neuro doc was impressed at her increased memory range. It was found that Angie would remeber things better if she wrote it down than being told.

Last friday, neuro doc stated that her recovery was one of the best. Not too often doe's he get to tell young patients good news, typically it's bad news. He could tell that she doesn't sit around all day waiting to get better. More than once her mom or I would force her to walk around her parents sidewalks. Doc deemed her "normal" but myself and family members disagree.

Memorial weekend was spent in the ICU after a doc poked a hole in the sack around heart while trying to install a new dialysis line. A few days later she was home again, just sore from the chest tube.

Angie is still going to dialysis 3 times a week. I am signed up with IHC to do a paired kidney exchange. Meaning that IHC is working with a large kidney transplant orginization in the NY area, to find one for her. In trade, they get mine. Doing this opens more doors for Angie and moves her up in priority. Regardless if they find one or not, I'm coughing one up.

This summer I plan on working on her driving skills some, as that is the last hurdle for her. She is claiming that my JK is hers cause I sold her jeep.

Normal is awesome!!! Great news. I remember stuff better if I see it or write it down too. Has she been practicing driving?

I have the same problem, I need to write things down also. No practice driving yet, gonna do some on the XBOX 360, then some go-carts then the JK out in the middle of nowhere. Angie isn't confident yet in her reaction time and skills, think driving kids back and forth from school. That has her more scared than anything else.

Wow that's awesome to hear that she is doing such a great recovery. I think I am going to start writing things down, could solve a lot of problems for myself. Good luck with the driving hope it goes well.

That is very cool of you, I have been really impressed with your attitude and devotion through this. I don't really know you but I am very, very impressed at your selflessness. Hold your head high.

Happy about her progress too.

Great news indeed but...........there's no such thing as a "normal" woman.

I'm calling BS. :D

That's kind of along the lines of what her parents and I tell. But I just the "look of death" and a quick kick to my shins.

Knives. Sharpen big ugly knives when her dates show up... Far more personal and visceral than just "cleaning guns"... Believe me, long slow strokes of the blade on the stone will have the young man's attention.:greg:

Doesn't hurt that I'm kinda big too. I have a good "scary" look... You might wanna work on that look Joe...

Excellent news Joe, thanks for the update and good luck with lining up the transplants. It's always so cool to prove a doc wrong.

Great news Joe! You'll all be in my prayers! This one really touches my heart & hits close to home. My wife has experienced a couple of mild strokes, and it scares the hell out of me! Lots of praying!:)

Good to hear Joe. That exchange plan is pretty good too. One of my hockey buddies donated to that, just because he wanted to. His recovery was pretty quick, he was back on the ice in about 10 weeks.

Very good news!! Good of you to donate. Difficult decision (probably a no brainer in this instance), but one that you will definately be proud of.

That made me LOL :D
