Winter 4x4 jamboree

Registration opened for w4x4j today. Things are different this year, you must pre register for runs. No more getting in-line at the fair grounds to run a trail. Much like jeep safari the entire sand mountain will be closed this year to all but those that are registered.

Gill (MEACH4x4) will certainly have more info than I do but as I understand it the BLM is requiring the area be closed in order to issue the permits. The BLM in conjunction with DRATS will have personnel at all the access points to verify registration.

In reality there is not a lot of access to the area since they put the Southern Utah parkway in a year or so ago. I can only think of 4 main entrances that would be easy to secure if needed. I don't understand the need to close it down or the reason they are doing it but Oh well. It is still a great event.
