Winter wheelin around salt lake city, and in moab

Hello all, im new to the 4x4 scene aswell as SLC, I want to know from the locals what are some good trails to hit up during the winter, when it wasn't closed i went up american for all the time, other than that i don't know anywhere else too go. What are some good trails that are around SLC?

BY the way my rig is a cherokee on 33's i like trails that are about the difficulty of mineral basin and forest lake, what else is there thats open in the winter?

ALso i am taking a trip to moab, this december and i would like some names of trails i should hitup down there, agian that are in my skill range, (cherokee on 33's) im not worried to get some dings and scratches i just dont like the off camber stuff where ur next too a 200ft cliff

welcome! five mile pass is a good time any time of the year. its 2 main trails are rattlesnake and constrictor, but there are miles and miles of dirt roads great for exploring, (watch for open mines). Moab is always good, and winter down there can be a bit more mild than up here.

welcome. I recommend heading to moab with a couple people, they'll show you all the good trails. I'm with you, I don't like off-camber or cliffside trails.

Welcome to RME,
x2 on 5 mile pass for a local trail that will keep you enteretained during any season for hopfully many years to come.

Before a lot of snow you could possibly check out the scenic trails in Stockton, UT (jacob city trail loop), its kinda local to SLC.

In addition to moab the rival trail system of... St George are awesome (same exit as Zion National Park).
FYI, Winter on the Rocks (aka WOTR) and event at the Sand Hollow riding area in St George is on Jan 25, 26, 27th 2013 lots of good trails and warm weather during the colder months. Locals seem to be really helpfull to show people around.

Ive also heard there is some good back country UT trails in Delta, UT also in SanPete County, UT usually searching ATV trails on the internet helps get fluent with what is all available in the areas and then do a more detailed search on what ATV trails are wide enough for an XJ. I believe there is a Utah CD that you can load all the maps into you computer... I got mine form user name: JackJoh

pm me if you ever need additional info on anything!

The 5 mile and af canyon are good close trails and so are the ones around tooele,

Sand Hollow in St George,
All trails in Moab can't go wrong with them

If you do Moab remember you have no ability to stop going down snow covered slick rock. Don't ask me how I know :)

Winter down there might get less snow but it's usually colder
