I was about to hook up a trailer to my 2nd gen 4runner, and found out the wiring is done for. How do you replace it? should I do it myself, or take it to a shop. One of you guys helping me would be awesome. I'm new to towing and offroading and stuff so be nice[emoji5]

If the wiring isn't factory(it appears it isn't), it may be a direct plug-in setup from a parts house. I'd first look to see if that's the case, and if so, head on down to oreilly's or wherever you prefer and see if you can find another.

If it's a crimped or soldered connection and you don't feel comfortable replacing a connection like that, I'd guess a shop would do it for $100 or less.

Pretty simple repair. Where you located? Cut and replace plug. Solder wireres back together with heat shrink or use crimp connectors and electrical tape to protect from elements.

I'm in South Jordan, and can have that done for you easy cheesy also.

Get a new plug from auto zone, splice and crimp it in. 10 minutes.
