Yeah, both turn signals work unless I turn the hazard lights on. Then nothing happens. I changed the little flasher fuse and checked the entire fuse box. I am thinking it might be the switch in the column or a bad ground, but thought I would put it out here to see if I am missing the obvious. I hate electrical.

I think you know
I will assume your working on a Samurai and my experience will said vehicle consistence of driving one once. But its been my experience that there is typically one flasher for the turn signals and one flasher for the hazard lights. Could you give more info, when you say nothing happens does that mean no lights light or the lights don't flash?

All the lights are stock samurai configuration, when I pull the hazard switch nothing happens. when I have a signal flashing and pull the hazard switch the signal stops flashing.
I was just thinking of putting a new swich off the back of the fuse box to aviod tearing into the steering column. I just need to get it to pass safety before the end of the month. The wierd part is that the turn signals work but the hazard doesn't.
Doesn't that sound like the switch might be bad?

the turn signals run through a seperate flasher fuse that is larger than a regular fuse. The hazards are going through the normal smaller fuse.

Seth, I have an FSM (Factory Service Manual) if you want to come by and take a look at it. Or if you want to swing by Saturday we can tackle this problem together. I hate electrical as well :(

are you going to be working on your samurai on saturday?
Maybe I will stop by because I now have a different quetion about emissions. I passed the safety, except for a loose wheel bearing. The problem I don't know how to fix is I/M.

This year the idle passed, but I failed on the co at high speed. they said there is too much fuel at high speed. Let me tell you, there is no such thing as too much fuel or high speed when talking about suzuki's.

Let me know what your schedule is like for saturday.

I should be home. Because of the weather I may have to work, but I will let you know either way. One key to the sami passing the test is to let it get HOT. When you get to the station let it idle for about 15 minutes, then rev it up a couple of times to clear everything out. Another thing is to check your air filter. I'll take a look at the readings when you get here. It may be a simple adjustment.

Yeah, I did run it on the freeway just before and left it runnig the whole time it was at the shop. I remembered that from last year. this is a different carb and now I also have the k&n air filter. I just cleaned it a couple of months ago and haven't driven it too much since, so it should be fairly clean.

I did much better on the hc's which was the issue last year. I switched to a cleaner oil that burns much better!

I dont know if it works or not, but I have heard of people dumpping a bottle of Heet in the gas tank. They say that it helps when trying to pass emissions.

I've also heard that prremiun gas (92 octane) gives off more emissions than regular (85 octane) gas.

I tried that last year, along with that guaranteed to pass sh!t. they help on some cars, but samurai's are special. The timming is usually the key, but I never remember which way to go.
