as much as i love driving my land cruiser it gets about 13-15 mpg.. With gas prices, this totally sucks for saving money for trips and builds this summer. so drastic measures had to be taken! i picked up a 2006 honda metropolitan(already renamed "the metrosexual" ) i got it for several hundred dollers less than the cheapest on i could find on ksl. make fun of it if you will (i know i do)but getting close to 100 mpg it will have paided for itself in less than 2 months. right now, it has a top speed of about 35-40 mph but acceleration is a bit slow, id like to modify it to go 50mph and have better acceleration

its in pretty good shape but the kid that had it before me wrecked it and some of the panals are a bit scratched. i looked into buying new plastic panals(in green) and it would cost more then i pait for it, so im going to get the blue parts wrapped in some sort of green, maybe with the mountain yoats logo?

here she is as i bought it

things id like for it..
after market cam shaft(yes they do have those)
after market revlimiter(raises rev limiter to make it faster)
custom exhaust
custom intake

Let me know how the build goes. My wife has one just like that.

I have been thinking of getting a dual sport kit for my Suzuki DRZ-400. You do what you have to when fuel prices go up.

With the increasing fuel costs I may be listing my '94 YJ soon as it is used as a daily driver to work. Right now only a 10 mile commute each way.. so no problem. But, I may be getting a job in SLC which would be a 40 mile commute one way.

not to point this out but isnt the point to get it to save money? lol now your wanting to build it up.ha I would just do a tune up on it and keep it how it is unless it raises the mileage for it.

No problem with a Scooter. I've got an 05 Yamaha Zuma. Bought it brand new. When I got it, my first tank was $1.85 to fill her up. Now it's $5.:D I have some of the same plans for mine. I take mine up in the trails a lot. They're fun and cheap.

come on robby you should of got a really moto like a 250 or something they still get 80mpgs. Then again i do love my 1982 Honda VF750 Sabre got it for 600 bucks and have put a couple hundred into it for the past 3 years 45 mpgs baby and it will do well over a 100!

I got this for less then your $600 82 sabre.. Don't get me wrong, I'd totally rock a moto, and maybe someday I'll upgrade, but the price was right.

I have a 2007 Yamaha Vino. I think it's that year. Bought it new for 2500 bucks. Rode it one summer and now it sits. Completely worthless. Top speed like yours and takes 5 minutes to get there. I got sick of holding up traffic, getting honked at etc so now it just rots. Biggest waste of money ever. :(

However. Insurance on it was only 35 bucks a year.

I really want to find a 125/250 2-stroke or something and swap out the pathetic engine it has now. But I haven't gotten around to it yet. With how much underseat storage it has (fits a 30 pack and ice!) I bet I could fit something decent in there.

Hells yeah. I had one just like that. Mine went 32mph if I tucked down a steep hill. It took me 45 minutes to go 10 miles to get to work because I had to take back roads because it wouldn't go fast enough on the major streets.

My brother in law has a scooter that sits in the yard rotting too because it goes so slowly... I assume that in Vietnam or even Korea those might be the hot ticket but I will stick with something a little bigger that does at least 120 :)

That's pretty funny. I'd do the same. I had all of these sweet routes planned of all the places I'd go that had speed limits of 35. I once went down redwood rd for 5 miles and thought I was going to die.

It took me a second to get what you were saying. The new av had me confused. The scooter works nice for hauling a xbox and beers to the other side of an apartment complex.:D
