I am looking at putting a cage inside of my 2001 wj. Any suggestions on who would be the best bet for this? i want it clean and so i can use all the vents and other doors. I have looked online at a couple of bolt in for zj's and also weld in ones for them as well. anyone try and make one of these fit? Let the discusion begin.:D

What exactly are you asking? Are you asking for a suggestion on a local shop to build one for you, or are you asking if we know who sells a bolt-in cage?

i am asking for anyone that has done them or knows where to recomend getting one done. Also if anyone has done anything with the zj cages that come prenotched and ready to assemble, and tried to make it work in a wj.

checked mallcrawlin and eor. both have good info eor has a zj kit they sell for 695 shipped but nothing for the wj. i will keep looking online, but what about a local fab shop that can do one any sugestions.

The ZJ kit won't work on a WJ....too different.

The only WJ cages I have seen over the years have been custom fab jobs. Jim McGloin (jeepinmtx on nagca and probably mallcrawlin) had a sweet white one with a really nice race certified cage. I haven't seen or heard from him in 3-4 years though.

I recommend the fabricator that buggied my TJ. He has a good eye for detail and creates some very functional and creative tubework. He also has experience with building automobile cages:cool:

PM me if interested.

Dustybronco on here is the man at Sexton Offroad, him and Ben Hanks are big supporters of RME, so I recommend using them.

There is just a lot of stuff and funny angles inside a luxury SUV, so making a cage is definitely not something that can be done on the cheap or on the easy. I love built WJ's, but unless it's already hashed I would probably consider building something else if you're going to be on terrain that necessitates a roll cage.

I have to agree here. My old zj's unit body had the rigidity of wet noodle after a couple of years of wheeling. IMHO, the drawback to wheeling unit bodies or trucks, is that once you add enough tubing to keep you safe, there isn't much room left inside and the exterior still gets trashed. If you add enough tubing to keep the exterior safe, it adds too much weight and also looks completely ridiculous.

meh....
