womens mtn bike

My wife is looking for a quality mountain bike.

She really likes the specialized myka sport in a 29er with hydraulic discs.

She isn't stuck on that bike it is just an example of what she is looking for. Any major brand is considered.


not looking for a project or the old crappy huffy you found in the shed ;-)

not looking for a full comp ultimate race bike either.

My wife rides a Diamondback 29er hardtail http://www.diamondback.com/bikes-mountain-29er-overdrive Its entry level because I wasn't sure if she was going to like biking when I bought it. She loves biking and I have upgraded her front fork to an air shock, and her brakes to hydraulic. She loves it and won't let me sell it to upgrade to a full. She did barrow a Specialized Rumor from Slim and Knobbys in Heber but it is like $4,300 http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/mountain/rumor/rumor-expert We might have to wait until we get that one. But she absolutely loved that bike.
One thing to keep in mind is I have heard that some women do not like 29er's because they feel they are too big and not nimble enough. I don't think my wife will do anything other than a 29er because she likes the fact she can just roll over and not really care what she hits.
