Wrangler Steering Shaft

Does the steering shaft of a jeep wrangler YJ have a slip joint? Took mine out when changing columns and it does not slide (two piece but rusted I assume). I thought they did. Did I remember this wrong?

Yes they have a slip joint but unless they have been lubed recently they usually don't slide well.
