yeah, an X is just a stripped Sport. If it has the options you want then it will be fine. They do have a 4.0L and not the 2.5L.

Off topic, but how do softops do in the snow? i really want a hard top because of the "fun" utah snow but i see a ton of softops for sell and dont know how they would hold up in the winter. Any stories or advice?

I have a soft top and love it. Just brush it off before you go in the ,orning if you don't have a garage. Heaters in the wrangler are great so I stay toasty warm. There is more road noise in a soft top, but I feel the trade offs oare well worth it.

my experience is similar except for my soft top was much quieter than my hard top. With a hard top you have to get them on just right otherwise they whistle (this may have been fixed on the TJs, mine was a 94 Wrangler) very loudly. Also, with a hard top it's liek a refrigerator, it gets COLD and it's hard to warm up. I liked my soft top 100xs more, that was a requirement on my current jeep purchase, either a soft top or no top so I could buy a soft top.

My neighbor has a X model with a Dana 44 in the rear. I installed a long arm kit on one a while back with a Dana 44 as well... I'm 99% sure they were X's :D lol I think it might be an option, at least. I _know_ my neighbors is, I'll have to take a look at the axle...

X's are like the rest, buy it, build it, drive it, break it, fix it, drive it some more .......

I have a soft top and it works great. The newer sail cloth tops are even better and quieter.

I know you can get the D44 in the rear of the X's (or atleast you sued to be able to)...I almost bought one off the dealer lot with a D44 in the rear, so yes it was (is?) an option.
