xj cage

i have a 90 xj that i built to be a family wheeler, my only problem is in the event of a roll over we will all be toast. Where can I find someone to build me a exterior cage so I don't have to go on easier trails?

Ben Hanks Racing, RockLogic, Mt. Logan... Watch the banner ads at the top of every page and click on them when you see a relevant one come up. :)

That said, I've seen plenty of XJs on tough trails, and plenty of rolled XJs that held up pretty well. Of course, I'm in the middle of putting a cage in/on mine, so I don't really want to risk it either. ;)

That cage is just way to over priced. Not to mention there is no triangulation to the cage, just some main hoops. Granted every kit out there is going to be minimal at best. But why not start with a kit that is only like $500~600 and spend that extra money to have a real cage that is welded in and not just a bolt together. With the price savings you could also afford to add some triangulation to it as well.

Now if it was me I would have somebody like Ben Hanks just build it from scratch.Sure its going to cost more then an option tossed out in this thread as a kit but the added insurance to know it is the best that money could buy is priceless.

Is there a reason you want to go external vs. internal? Exo cages are heavier and change you COG too. Interal are stil heavy, dont get me wrong, but they arent as heavy, and I believe they are safer too.

I would go internal also. Exo's use a lot of tube and it sounds like you want a safety backup in case you roll, an internal would be fine for that. If you want to bash the heck out of it and roll it all the time, then exo would be for you. I sent you a p.m. back for Alliance Metal Works.
