YJ Temp Gauge

I'm having trouble with my temp gage and was hoping someone here has had the problem and found a fix.

When driving my gage will move up to ~160 Degrees and will not go higher.

I've looked around and checked all the usual causes. For starters yes I'm looking at the sensor on the fire wall side of the block. Yes its plugged in. I have grounded it with the key in the ON position and it and it Maxed out. I've changed the sensor multiple times and it is still having the same issue. I have properly burped the system and all the air is out. Lastly I have changed the thermostat to ensure I don't just have an open system.

I'm really wanting to get this gage working because the wife and I have been doing some Canyon driving and I really don't want to overheat and or warp the head.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd start by testing the resistance of the sensor when the engine is hot and cold, and comparing that to a chart of what it should be. The sensor housing is grounded to the block/head right? this test will help you determine if it has a good ground.
