My pic of the day is not beautiful, amazing or fun... but somewhat depressing.
My truck was parked outside last night in the driveway, this is ash from the Pine Gulch fire, burning in the Bookcliffs just North of Grand Junction. Its 7% contained and spreading West at quite the pace.
I was driving into the valley late last night and the flames were very visible from the freeway, some of the flare-up were huge.
There is another wildfire thats out of control in Glenwood Springs, about an hour away. We could really use some rain and cooler temps... 😢

Some work on the 60. Bought an Artec Superduty to XJ/TJ kit. Just waiting for it to arrive. Passenger side was pretty simple. Just cut welds and stock bracket comes off. Drivers side requires cutting 2 inches of the cast off. I bought a nice Milwaukee carbide blade for the sazall and got to work. Nerve racking cutting down into the cast not knowing if you've gone to deep or not. All in all I only hit the axle tube in 3 spots and maybe 1/16th of an inch into it. I was pretty happy with the results. Now just need the truss to get here and clean the axle up a little more but it was getting hot and not in the shade anymore.

Just to follow up, the fire near me was at 135 acres last night when I went to bed. Today it’s up to 1000 acres and zero containment. And the cherry on top is it’s heading this way

It looks like the locomotive is missing some pieces like the drive wheels (trucks?) and maybe a few other parts that would bring the weight down a little. Still, it's probably over 150k as pictured.

We're supposed to leave tonight for Colorado to run some trails. My rear axle started making some growling noises so I opened it up and the carrier bearings are bad.
