Been driving past this for a few years. Was a bad day at Black Rock for somebody. Skeleton wasn't there two weeks ago. It's a nice touch.

Not much for Jethro Tull but Athens would be amazing whatever you were listening to?
I didn't much care for Athens. Dirty city, and aside from the acropolis (which is just crawling with people and people vultures) there wasn't much else there.

If you're into old stuff, go to Rome. Same people problem, but 100x more cool stuff to see.

My wife just got back from Italy. She liked all the old historic stuff but commented on how dirty Rome was. She said you were looking at something that was 800BC and 20 feet away was graffiti.

@Greg This sucks. I was planning an Adventure Bike ride for the high peaks in SW Colorado at the end of the month.. I am assuming that is where you are at.

Yeah, we did the Alpine Loop and up to Engineer Pass yesterday. The season for high mountain access in Colorado has come to an end, there was another massive storm that moved through last night, it probably dumped way more snow on the mountains.

Totally! Venice was even worse than Rome with graffiti, but Athens was worse than all of them. You can get down side streets in Rome and get away from the really bad tourist trap.. Eat at little mom and pop pasta joints etc. Athens not so much

That is what she said. They did the whole get lost in Rome by going down all the side streets. Her favorite place on the trip was Sorento and the Amalfi Coast. We are doing a Greek Isle cruise next September for her 25th anniversary of her 25th birthday.

In either country spend 1-2 days in the city (I actually like Athens more than Rome) and then get out into the countryside or islands.

I'll agree here. I enjoyed Greece more than Italy. Some of that was the attitudes of the people we encountered--Greeks seemed genuinely happy to see us, Italians just wanted to take our money and move us along. Athens had some of the cleanest subways I'd seen, and didn't seem any dirtier in general than any other big city. (Paris, I'm talking to you)
