My family went down for this weekend for my mothers 50th birthday. We did angels landing yesterday I had never done this hike (probly won't do it again). We got to the trailhead at 10am the hike is 5 miles round trip the first 2 miles is mostly paved and very senic. We reached the top of walters wiggles this where is began to have my doubts about going on. I don't do well with heights but I was convinced to move on by my wife and family. I made it to a part known as the step of faith and made it across and decided this was the end of the line for me so did my mom and one sister. We wrap our selfs around a tree and told everyone else to finish the trail and we will be here on the way back down (bad idea:eek:). After about five minutes we realize sitting still is as bad or worse than going up the trail we regrouped and got back down the trail to where we felt safe. We waited for the the rest of the team and had lunch the made the 2 mile hike down. All in all it was a great day If you have never done this hike you should put it on the list it is very senic. Just pass on the last half mile if you have a fear of heights.

On a side note hwy 14 out of ceder city is a killer stretch of road.:greg: Oh yeah I'm the fat guy.

If you are fat than I must be obese. Thanks for posting this, I read about it in a book called the Undaunted. I also have the same backpack as that red and black except in all black.

Angels Landing is definitely rough if you're at all nervous around heights. No shame in stopping where you did...

I freaking looooove that trail.

Damn. I wish I would have known about that trail when I went a few months ago. We did some really weak hikes and moved onto canyonlands.

Thanks for posting. I'll definitely have to try that trail next time I am there.

I remember before the chains were up there, Back in high school we used to hike it in the dark on full moon night. I have been up there at least 4 times in the middle of the night, its actually pretty cool to go up in the dark.

FYI It is closed now for a "remodel" of the chain and step systems, they are rebuilding alot of the last steep section...Sucks I have a Imlay canyon trip coming up this weekend and we were going to do the sneak route, Now we have to start from lava point and do the full Imlay....going to be hellish for sure!!
