The job you did with a grinder looks great BTW
It totally sucked. it took way too long. i was dreaming up a way to use my 6x79" 3phase belt sander after doing the first one jic i decided to do the second juan.

Are you saying 1.75" total? i intend to plasma cut off the bottom lip on the 14 bolt which will gain me an easy 5/8"

How do you seal it?

Two common methods are the press in tube seals like these:

Is a 14 bolt stronger than a reverse spiral 60 in the front? I would think it would be close
I'm certain a 14b on the coast side is far stronger than a d60 on the drive side. The ring gear is bigger and the pinion is massive compared to the d60 also the 3rd pinion bearing that the 14b has. My biggest reason for all this work is the spool size. I'm running 40 spline inners shafts. We put a 40 spline spool in a 60 in geoffs buggy and the only one we could find was a light weight drag spool. It was only maybe 5/16-3/8 thick where the ring gear bolts. I'm sure he's gonna have rp issues because of the weak spool deflection. The 14b spool is 1.125" thick at the ring gear. (I posted a pic comparing a 35spline 60 spool) There is a reason all the rock bouncer guys run 14b fronts/d60. Those dudes have done enough r&d lol. I've ran a 14b on the coast side in my rear engine buggy for 8 years now and I've really taxed it.

I don't ever want these axles to break when I got my kid loaded up in some nasty buggy canyon.
