The highway or Ophir Pass... but Black Bear was closed at the same time, for the same reason. Lots of flooding and trail damage.
The County , who maintains the trails, doesn't like seeing the passes closed, they bring in a lot of tourist $$$$.

Yeah, folks are still sneaking vehicles through I hear. Looks a little iffy to me.
The similarity is striking though. Even assuming that local FS staff are doing everything they can, fact is here's two through-routes across FS land that the FS has responsibility to maintain and they don't have an emergency fund in place to deal with it.

Securing the Funding - The restoration of FR 085 was funded in two stages:
• October 2024: $350,000 was allocated by the Utah OHV Fund.
• November 19, 2024: The Outdoor Adventure Commission approved an additional $518,000, completing the funding package.
The Schedule A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) played a pivotal role in enabling Utah County to repair Class D roads on Forest Service land, addressing issues not prioritized or funded by federal resources.
Looking Ahead - The restoration of FR 085 will reopen access to cherished destinations, improve safety for canyon visitors, and strengthen connections between Utah and Wasatch Counties. Construction is set to begin in early 2025, with Utah County Public Works leading the effort.

Hope $870k is enough.
To me, $870k seems like it would barely cover the equipment cost for the project besides engineering, manpower, and materials, so it’ll be interesting to see what their solution is.
