Have a Multimeter you love?

I need a new multimeter for the home shop. I'd be exclusively using it for automotive, 12V & 24V applications. I won't be doing anything with AC. I've had a bunch of different cheapo units from Harbor Freight, Craftsman, etc over the years but I wouldn't mind one that has a better LCD and overall quality. I don't need Fluke quality but perhaps a Klein?

I have a Fluke 101 which is super basic, very compact and accurate but does everything I need, and its only $60.

Fluke is the only one I've been really happy with but I haven't ever used a Klein. The other few I've had all sucked in one or more ways.

I went from the Harbor Freight stuff to a Klein from Lowes. Big improvement, I just wish it didn't boot in AC mode every time.

I have a fluke that I haven't used for years, and 2 others that I've been really happy with. I'll round them up and see what brand/model they are. Seems like the one in the truck is a Triplett (?) and the little guy here is a Triplett too. This one has been in the Scrambler and now Gladiator for YEARS.

I vote for the Klein but have heard the Fluke is cooler than that. I don't think I'll ever get another multi meter without the clamp fingers on top. If for no other reason, testing a draw on an isolated wire is WAY worth it

I love the old analog Fluke multimeters, but sadly I only have a variety of digital multimeters. For auto troubleshooting I really like to use the Power Probe.

I've been using my Power Probe as multimeter since this weekend. Awesome tool!

I've had the PP4 for quite a while. Have never learned how to use it's multimeter like functions. But for circuit testing and applying power it has been awesome.

Power Probe is by far the best return on investment in my toolbox. I rarely use it, but when it comes out it saves me hours of headache. Definitely get the model that has the wireless receiver to chase buried wires.

The one I got for the garage. At work we use Flukes, but this little guy gets the job done at home.

It’s awesome. Attach the transmitter to one end of the wire and it will send a radio frequency through that circuit. The cordless receiver picks up that radio frequency and beeps faster/slower depending on how close you are. That way you can trace wires that are buried away without having to uncover them. Similarly it’s easy to find a short in a wire, where the signal stops.

The Fluke 87 is the end-all-be-all meter.

but i ran this stlye of meter for a half a decade and it was just fantatsic for 95% of stuff (i called it the claw). I think i tossed mine back into my trail tool bag and it still runs just fine.
