Automatic or manual tranny for off-roading?

 I've noticed that I'm one of the few wheelers in the world it would seem who appreciates having a functional E-brake.

Automatic or manual tranny for off-roading?

Am I the only one who knows how to use an E-brake? :ugh:

Automatic or manual tranny for off-roading?

I for one believe this is all about personal preference. My friends all drive Autos, but I prefer a manual. I have more fun with it offroad. It makes the trail seem that much more of a challange, and that way I dont get bored. Granted, wheeling on the east coast is a little different than what...

Radius Arms vs. 3-link (wishbone ?)

It is a TJ and it currently has a clayton longarm kit, so most of the geometry is already figured out for me. I will try to take a closer look at this teraflex kit however, in hopes to see how everything needs to be routed in order to fit. I feel thats going to be the biggest issue here.

Radius Arms vs. 3-link (wishbone ?)

I could have sworn when I looked at fabtec's site they had a panhard in their 3-link wishbone kit for the rear. I did think that that would have caused binding, but i figured 'what did i know.' so i guess if that is out of the question (as i want to keep a panhard up front) I suppose i...

Radius Arms vs. 3-link (wishbone ?)

Panhard is there to stay, as this is a street driven rig. im kinda leaning toward a non-triangulated 4 link. i dont like the non-symmetry of a non-triangulated 3 link. must be OCD haha. I just dont think i'd trust it. but a wishbone wouldnt work up front? even with a panhard?

Radius Arms vs. 3-link (wishbone ?)

Sooo, its getting warmer, and I was thinking about what to do with the jeep in the upcoming weeks. One of the points on my to-do list is the issue of my control arms. I have a long-arm setup that Im beginning to think about ditching for a new homebrew set. the arms on there are pretty warn out...

    Lets see the Dirt Bikes!

Saw this thread, figured i'd contribute. My recent project, a 72' Hodaka Wombat. As it sits now: a little older pic: and what I started with: Will be getting this registered so I can ride around town this summer. I also have a 1970 Bultaco Matador that I have yet to clean up.

How much money do you have in your rig so far?

I have a bit of a running tally going on, and lets just say its not pretty. Ive been dating the same girl for almost four years now, and every once in a while i get to hear about how stupid it is of me to drop this much into a vehicle. So I went out and picked her up a full size 78' Cherokee...

Wearing a spare as a tophat?

yes. yes i do  and although they are tough, ive already got a slash in one sidewall thats been patched. I guess this is about me just covering my bases. also, i dont know if i'll be doing a cross country trip on these tires. i may pick up a cheap set of hummer take offs because I hear...

Wearing a spare as a tophat?

Ive also done this before. Ive got ARBs front and rear, so it would work, but a full size spare would be nice for the type of trips i do. I will keep this idea in mind however. thanks!

Wearing a spare as a tophat?

Just bringing a tire and ditching the rim might not be a bad idea. i may also search for a real narrow 38 on a plain steel rim just to be safe. also, If i could find a narrow 38, i could mount it to the back deck with my rack over it. with the 14.5" wides I have now, this isnt really...

Wearing a spare as a tophat?

I was just trying to point out that COG is the only thing im really worried about with my response. I will say that you are right, and that I was leaning toward a roof mount, but you guys have me thinking about going the other way with this. I know I must seem annoying with this, i just wish...
