What made you realize you weren't young anymore?

As someone that’s single I can confirm that’s not always a bad thing.

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

Airbags showed up today, so of course I had to go take a quick look to see how difficult it’s going to be to fit them. Aside from having to move the exhaust it looks like it’s going to be pretty easy job.

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

I have also had one of the harbor freight ones. It was loose! I currently have this one in the picture below and it’s quarter inch wall main tube. But I don’t want to push that big heavy bike up so I think the adjustable one is probably the route I’m going to go. I did think about your idea of...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

I have zero experience running airbags on anything. But searching Google today getting ready for some ideas on building my set up. I came across airbag cradles. They apparently allow you to not have the bottom of the bag attached to the axle. This seems like a really nice things specifically...

    Southwest Colorado For Christmas

I realize having the time off work, makes it attractive to try to do a ski vacation over Christmas break. But that’s a really difficult time to get return on investment just because of the crowds and cost associated with travel and hotels. You’re not going to find a ski resort that’s not packed...

1.75” tube clamps? Starlink mini mount ideas.

The Starlink doesn’t seem to be affected by the fiberglass top at all. I’ve also noticed that setting it up with proper orientation seems to make marginal differences also. This little thing just works. So I found a 3-D printed mount on Etsy. That’s designed to fasten it to a sunroof and took...

VW Baja Bug - Any experience?

And for the record that buggy is cool and I think you need to rescue it. They have pretty soft tech. If you wanted to race I’d just email them some pictures and see what they say. Updated harnesses, window nets and some type of firewall for the fuel cell and I bet you would be fine. Such a...

VW Baja Bug - Any experience?

How far out is it from being class 9? Bore has a few class 9 cars. It would be killer to be able to run a few local races. Or even just sportsman if it’s to far out of spec: looks like it has irs not swing axle?

    All things Camp Trailer

So that’s aligns with what I saw peak. I probably just don’t have the most efficient panels. Kinda a bummer to drop that much into it to only see mid results but it’s better than nothing I guess.

    All things Camp Trailer

I added 3ea 100 watt panels to the roof of the van. While I was at it, I completely rewired pretty much everything with better connectors and thicker gauge cable to distribution blocks. I also install a few 65 W USB-C plugs so I can run my Starlink and charge my laptop without having to use the...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

Thanks to you good influence I’m going for it. I didn’t like the airbag kits I could find for the van so I ordered a few different mounting plates and a set of 2500 pound bags and I’ll just build my own mounts. Also ordered a class 5 receiver. I don’t trust the one I built into the rear bumper...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

I don’t think I’m ready to drop the kind of money on a namebrand scooter lol I’m sure that thing still worth 2500 bucks or more. If I went the scooter route, it would be something like this. But I think I’ve gotten enough encouragement here that I’m going to move forward with ordering the...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

So instead of using an extension, I would just build the carrier to work with my set set up permanently. And then I planned on using some high-quality turnbuckles up to the shackles on the rear bumper. My thought is it would triangulate it as well as distribute some of the load.

'71 Impala 4 door... what should I do with it?

I’ve been getting blasted with ads from these guys. I don’t know if you’ve seen them but at $599 for efi it might be worth some research. Looks like you could add on a trans controller too for that overdrive...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

Even with the box truck, it’s going to have to be a similar set up. There’s just no way to fit the motorcycle inside with the layout. I need to be sustainable for work and long-term travel. But that’s also why I’m leaning towards trying to find a set up that will work with a big bike. it would...

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

Either way, I think I will build a carrier similar to something like this that’s height adjustable. Obviously with the V Strom it would have to be pretty hefty.

Hitch carrier for a big adventure bike. Crazy?

So where my mindset has been I really want to get a motorcycle that I can carry behind the van. I’ve been thinking anywhere from like 150 cc Chinese made scooter that I would throw some knobbies on to a smaller dual sport dirtbike. Something that I could go putt around some dirt roads on and...

For Sale Traveller, Scout II's, Square Body Chevy, etc

That is good to know. And I’ll keep it in mind if I find the right rig. The box on drw is typically wider. While I want the space I still want to be able to fit into the backcountry and parking spots. Typically the srw box trucks end up being the same width as a standard van just taller and a...

VW Baja Bug - Any experience?

I had a 2.2 ecotec and a 091 at one point for this exact reason yes a sxs will be faster, have better suspension but Baja’s are just so freaking cool.
