I would pick a camshaft that has good torque at my highway cruise rpm and has peek hp around my projected max rpm. Something to consider is valve lift, more lift increases valve spring temperatures and can reduce their life.

The "black wire" from the gauge to the engine is actually a capillary tube.

It's a mechanical gauge, the "black wire" is a capillary tube, not a sending unit.
The red wire is for dash lights only and does not affect the gauge itself.
If you have ever read some of the comments on the UTOR Facebook page Toyota needs to be as descriptive as possible and also add some pictures with arrows.
