Utah owning more of its state. I think this could be good? Bad?

I am doubtful it would be much different under Utah management. A new, large state agency would need to be created. Expensive. New staff hire. Difficult. And you can bet there will be lawsuits both by those pushing for more access and those trying to protect the environment.

Utah owning more of its state. I think this could be good? Bad?

My biggest concerns are : 1) There are many developers in the legislature. 2) Super majority rule means it will be very hard to have multiple sides of an issues presented and honestly discussed. Land use needs to be a careful balance of access, extraction, environment protection and economic...

    Can we talk dogs?

She is pretty mellow. Burst of energy last a few minutes and she is good. Except when my son brings his doodle over then it is nonstop chaos. Loves the paddle board and is amazingly patient with my three grandsons ( all between 15 months and almost 3 1/2.) I have always been a hound person...

    Can we talk dogs?

Debated whether to put this under dogs or pic of the day. Had a great time last week at Powell with some of my kids and grands.

Mental health: it’s ok to talk.

Just because they are not seen does not make wounds imaginary and insinuating that they are undermines the point of this thread that it is okay to admit to struggles and show what some would call weakness.

    Yellowstone explosion

I remember as a kid being at Yellowstone and walking on the boardwalk in one of geyser basins when one of features, labeled as a spring, erupted, hitting us with steam and water. Luckily not dangerously hot. We reported it to the rangers who said they had no record of previous eruptions...

    Truck soft toppers

That was us indeed. Actually picked up our food from Sheralds and then went to eat at a park so the grand kids could run around for a few minutes.

    Political So now what

@Stephen following the comments thread, I don't think anyone of us 'jumped to conclusions' about what you said. It was pointed out he owned a home, which he sold when elected governor. Yes, many people invest beyond what their pensions cover, but not sure that choosing not to do so (since the...

I was about to ask the same question. Seems very odd that military service and public school teacher is now seen as a negative.

    Truck soft toppers

Used my new Flatd inflatable topper for the first time this week. Thumbs up so far. Easy to inflate ( used the pump for my paddle boards) and install, stayed very secure. Didn't have to drive in any rain, some concern could get road spray in under the back flap (the velcro strap it comes with...

    Political So now what

@glockman , it is entertaining how your defense of any conservative is simple what about someone else. Absolutely ethics standards should apply across the board. And I will stand by my point that a judge should not rule on a case their spouse is at all connected to. Yes, the wealthy and...

    Political So now what

The issues isn't who their friends are. It is what those friends give and that those friends or their companies have cases before the court. I find it rather surprising and disappointing that people who generally distrust government and those in power see no problem with Supreme Court justices...

Get off your "it's OK if Liberals do it" high horse. Obviously the proposed reforms apply across the board. He is some cases a 30 second search reveals. https://truthout.org/articles/report-harlan-crow-has-a-stake-in-4-scotus-cases-and-thomas-hasnt-recused/...

    Tucson AZ Thought?

My brother and his family lived there for something like 7 years. They liked is a lot, his daughter moved back to AZ after graduating from USU and his wife likes to visit as often as possible. I only went down once while he was there and the deserts outside the city are neat.

    Political So now what

Lower courts have strict rules on recusal, the Supreme Court does not and has refused to do so. I know you will criticize the source of the specific article I am linking to, but all these have been very widely reported on. But in summary, Thomas and Alito have both received expensive travel...

    Political So now what

Ethical reform especially in regards to conflict of interest (or appearance of it) is absolutely needed. No justice should be hearing cases involving a friend or their business, especially a 'friend ' who gives you expensive gifts or travel. And same goes for cases a spouse is involved with...
