    Dodge 48RE upgrades and longevity

I've built several of the 47RHand 48RE Dodge auto's and I guess I'm on the other side of the fence when it comes to Dodge auto's. In stock form I am not impressed, however, there is a lot of aftermarket support and the ones I've built have lived a long life. Items I upgraded to were the Alto...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Nice. We did a few mods to my son's 2004 WJ. These were all necessary. ;)

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Continuing on.... Rather than assume the thickness based on past repairs I like to verify each one to ensure I machine the step to the correct depth per vehicle. Yep, this OEM material is about 10-gauge. I turned just a few thousands off the OD to remove the chrome plating from the...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

The next project actually rolled into the shop on Monday evening but I was neck deep in yard work so I didn't get a chance to begin work on it until last night. I have done some work for this gentleman on numerous occasions as he was a client when we had our speed shop and has also brought a...

    Let's Talk Lawns

Agreed. That is why I was so impressed and wanted to make sure to tell them so. Funny what we accept as "normal" these days. I remember years ago, and not all that many years ago, if someone went well above expectations they were praised and thanked. Nowadays, if someone or a company just...

    Let's Talk Lawns

I thought I was done digging in my yard but over the past couple of years I noticed two low spots developing in my back yard. One was under our master bedroom where the contractors dug the trench for my gas line from the main house meter back to the shop. It slowly began settling but this past...

    Let's Talk Lawns

^^This. I tried for a few years at our last place but then a friend and client of mine whom I had worked on many vehicles and bikes started a lawn fertilization company and for the past close to 20 years at the last place and now for the last six years we've been at our new place I've been...

    Let's Talk Lawns

Once I determined it was grubs and not a watering issue last summer I had them sprayed which did in fact kill them and that got rid of them. I was told it could take a couple/three seasons for the lawn to completely recover but that was too long for me to wait so that's when I decided to cut...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I finally was able to edit a couple of videos and post them to my YouTube channel over the weekend. This was the GM High Feature V6 timing job that I did a couple of weeks ago. And here was the fluid and filter service on the Allison 3000 transmission in our 2003 Monaco Dynasty coach...

    Let's Talk Lawns

I had a spot of about 200 square feet that was infested with grubs late last year. I was told to give it a couple of seasons and it would fill back in once the grubs were killed. Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a patient person and simply cannot wait for a couple of years before my...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

It's a project I started for our recently arrived grandson. Corban posted a link to the build so as I make progress I'll keep it updated. It's currently stalled out due to side jobs filling the shop and a few personal maintenance tasks filling in the gaps but I'll get back on it here shortly...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Yes. I use Blackstone Laboratories. Been using them for 25+ years now. They key is to use sampling from the beginning and then be on the lookout for anomalies. One sample doesn't really tell a story.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Finished up the service on the Allison MD3060 transmission and Eaton rear differential in our 2003 Monaco Dynasty last night. All fluids and filters for both the transmission and rear axle at the ready. OE Allison filter kit for the deep sump. Removing the drain plug from the sump. While...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Thank you. I have spent my entire adult life and career trying to change the stereotype that accompanies the mechanic trade name and I really want to believe there are others that perform work to the same degree I try to. However, based on the repeated comments I seem to get I think they are...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I greatly appreciate the kind words. Thank you that means more than you realize. I wish I made that kind of money though. I'm not the most expensive mechanic out there but I know I'm far from the cheapest as well. I feel I charge a fair price but try to over-deliver on my services...

    Spotted

I guess so. I know they moved their residence up there and heard the shop was at their residence, but I am not sure if that is factual or if they are operating out of a commercial building. It's been about a year since I spoke to him.

    Spotted

Yeah, they are no longer in Clearfield. One of the owners is my ex-BIL and I think they now work in Plymouth, UT. However, I think they sold part of the business or at least some design aspects to a government contractor but don't quote me on that, we don't see each other as often these days.

    Pole Barn build - updates

The shop turned out awesome. Glad to see you're done with it and can now move forward with setup and enjoying it. When Garrett built mine it was exactly six months from breaking ground to writing the last check but mine was a full stick & brick building and therefore took a bit longer. But...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Continuing on with the LaCrosse timing job. The timing cover is in place and all fasteners are torqued to spec. The harmonic balance can now be installed. This fastener is a torque to yield bolt so it should be replaced at this time. Torque spec on this bolt is 74 ft/lbs. plus 150-degrees...
