RME Dual Sport ride, Kokopelli trail

Turns out the wife scheduled help to move us in this Saturday, so I'd be officially out anyway. None of my new dual-sport bike stuff has showed up either. Give me a few more weeks and I'll be ready for a good ride with a bike that's ready too! Jared

RME Dual Sport ride, Kokopelli trail

I just ordered a 4.3 gallon tank and my rear lights. I'm ordering the rest of the lighting setup tomorrow. If by some miracle I can get everything together during the next week (and close on my house, and move) I'm totally in. Don't hold your breath... Jared

    Lets see the Dirt Bikes!

Greg - I just looked through two of your trip reports on advrider.com... that one through Telluride looked just amazing! As much as I would likely enjoy the full day cross country rides, it's probably not going to happen very soon. My family enjoys me way too much to leave them home. This...

    Lets see the Dirt Bikes!

Well, I did it. I bought a 2000 model with the HRC package. It positively rips! I will need to do a bit of stuff to get it street legal, and maybe get a bigger tank as well. Is there a very cheap package to get one of these barely street legal?

    Lets see the Dirt Bikes!

Kurt - I never thought the expedition guy would be on a full race bike like that. Sweet bike! I'm very much considering purchasing a street-legaled 2001 XR650R and getting back to my two wheeler roots! Jared

    Lets see the Dirt Bikes!

I started out riding an '81 Yamaha YZ100 when I was 12. My dad bought a couple quads when I was about 16 and I've been on ATV's ever since. We currently have an '04 TRX450R and a '99 TRX400EX. Here's a shot of me showing off at the St. Anthony dunes last month. I'd LOVE to do a ride up...

    Any duner families out there?

Hi folks. I haven't seen ANY ATV threads in this forum as of yet, so I thought I'd throw this out. We have a family of four... my wife and two kids - Logan, 5 and Anna, 3. We like to hit the dunes every month or two on our quads. We have a '04 Honda TRX450R and a '99 TRX400EX. We'd love...

    Bent D44

Find a 12+ ton jack, an I-beam stronger than the axle, and some chains stronger than your jack and go to town. I've straightened two different XJ/TJ D30 fronts bent in the exact same spot as yours with great success. Just bend it until your back into spec on camber (you can check this with a...

    Family 4x4

Agreed. The power is anemic and the economy sucks. However, ours did tow an extra cab 4x4 ranger to and from Moab on a fairly heavy car hauler with zero trouble. I even got 12MPG with the 35" BFG MT KM2's on that trip. My solution to the very same vehicle problem was to get a seven leather...

    Axle upgrade for 78 f150

Phil - just toss in a new 3rd bud. Simple, done in an hour. No new wheels, no work or money spent on the front end. No driveline mods. 31 spline shafts vs typical 30 spline in a 60. Just as strong of an axle if you find a nodular 3rd... pretty close if you don't. Get a mini-spool for 28...

Engine dies when I apply the brakes

Have you tried pressing the clutch pedal when you press the brake pedal? Or just taking it out of gear when stopping? My sister had those issues a lot on her first car. Hope this helps. Okay, okay. I'm going with the ground problem. Check all grounds on your brake lights first thing...

Safety Inspection laws *new and improved"

No, I'm not any type of elected or appointed representative of the 4x4 community. But, we are both representing the 4x4 community every time we are in view of the public with our rig or participating in our hobby. Strange that the same guy who says we should require a big pink wiener on the...

Could I get an update on closed Moab areas?

Everything that is not part of the BLM travel map is closed, as far as I know. Grab some maps from the BLM and avoid everything else. Seems the open list is much shorter than the closed list these days. Jared

    axle good and bads?

There are a few elusive non-disconnect modern Dodge 60's out there. I've had one, and seen one more for sale since. I have no idea what year or options these came with, but I do know the one I had came out of a Cummins equipped truck. Jared

Safety Inspection laws *new and improved"

Okay here goes. I believe a large percentage of us are tired of hearing your bit#hing about failing your MVI. The law is the law and it is your responsibility to educate yourself about the law and then comply. You can piss and moan about the UHP all you want, but it is not their job to put...

Safety Inspection laws *new and improved"

I'm sorry you are having so much difficulty complying with state law. It must be difficult. While I do not agree with this law, it is the law nonetheless. Don't like it? Write your legislator, start a petition, hold a rally, stage a protest, write a letter to the editor, etc. With any of...

Recommendations for ATV friendly Moab Trails

Charles Wells wrote an ATV guide to Moab similar to his popular guide for 4x4's. Should be good info. Jared
