What? You're not gonna come have a Maverik breakfast with the rest of us?!?

When do you think you might be monitoring? What times of which days? I can spend time monitoring the Sinbad system this week (as my schedule permits) to see if we can make contact.

I have invited one more friend who has confirmed he will be there. He is driving an XJ on 35s. His wife will probably be there also, but that would still leave their back seat open for Steve... though I figure there should also be at least one more open seat between my two co-workers that are...

There I was, driving to work this morning and chatting with somebody on my ham radio, when suddenly sixstringsteve broke in to say hi. His upgraded antenna helped his handheld radio 'reach' the 76 repeater from inside his house, thus allowing us to have a brief conversation. Welcome to the...

I decided to submit my request after carefully reviewing the FCC's own web site, which says (in part): It doesn't say KP cannot be followed by a number 1, so that's why I submitted it. The FCC's site says my submission was received on May 2nd, and my Redlight Review (whatever that is) was...

Either that or an extremely large tub of Vasoline. I've had many people trip over my suffix, constantly juxtaposing the letters. Because of that, I've wanted a call sign which might be easier to remember and perhaps even involve an element of humor. The idea for my submission just hit me...

I got into town early Monday evening. Tuesday I ran Kane Creek, Wednesday I ran Cliffhanger, Thursday I ran Poison Spider Mesa, and Friday I ran Seven Mile Rim. I drove home Friday night. Studying the difference between 1/2 wave output and 5/8 wave output is left as an exercise for the...

As you've already found out, the Larsen NMO2/70B. This is a fabulous antenna, and is easily worth every penny of its $70 price tag. The FTM-100DR is the newer version of my trusty FT-7900R dual band but with digital capability added (along with a very nice readout screen). If you think you...

In my experience, no. Grounded, yes, but I'm getting great continuity even though I didn't scratch off my paint. EDIT: on my Burb, I attached my brackets with pre-existing bolts which are obviously well grounded. That may be why I never had to remove my paint.

That is what I suggest, though you'd want that upper bend to be at an angle to match the slope of your hood line. This seems like it would be an easy thing to make... for somebody on this forum, anyway.

There is a park & ride at Pioneer Crossing and I-15 (exit 278), on the west side of the highway. Wanna meet me there at 7:30am on the 21st? (This assumes we are meeting at the Ephraim Maverik at 9:00am as usual. Is that true, YROC FAB?)

The guy I invited says he probably can't get out of work that day. It looks like I may have an open seat. Wanna volunteer to be the official photographer/videographer?

Here is a new topic. In his original post, Steve said: This is true in the sense that only one person should transmit while everybody else listens. That's certainly easy enough when there are only two people in the conversation. But what happens in a group discussion? Especially on the...

Here is my summary of info on those two systems. Sinbad linked repeater system The poster right above me linked to the SDARC main page. I have bookmarked a subpage on that site, which lists all 13 of the linked repeaters that constitute the Sinbad system. If you're only looking for the...

John had a good idea in attaching the ham band chart. Here is a picture of it: As John said, Technicians do have some privileges on a few HF bands. Note that on 80m, 40m and 15m they are limited to CW only... which is Morse code. So if you're a Technician who doesn't know Morse and you...

John included lots of great information in his post (thanks!). However, there is one erroneous bit which I will correct. This is partially incorrect, and I will explain why. FRS never requires a license. If you buy these so-called "bubble pack" radios at Wal-Mart or wherever, anybody in...
