I'd love to see Ford bring the Ranger back in kind of a JK Rubicon version: Solid axles, lockers, and 35" tires from the factory. Oh, and drop that 2.7l ecoboost engine in it from the F150. Or the 3.5l one :) I'd buy one in a heartbeat... Nice build on your truck too ...

I just realized that someone tried to roll it down into the ravine. That picture from FB posted by Jeeper shows it up on the trail but we recovered it from well off the trail, farther down the hill, stopped by a Cedar tree.

These things are so much fun. It's like a statics&dynamics class with consequences. Kudos to all, it went so smooth. I never would have guessed that with all four tires off the rim we would have to pull downhill on most of the way down the hill.

The byproduct of Zinc (galvanized coating) and dilute HCl (muriatic acid) is hydrogen. The biggest issue is HCl mist from the bubbling, so use a fan to get lots of ventilation and wear goggles to guard against splash and mist. (I was the one who suggested it earlier in the thread)

Most carrier designs I've seen support the outboard end on the bumper when closed. But overkill is good too.

I've never understood the reasoning behind the 1-ton truck axle and bearing for a spare tire carrier. It supports maybe a couple hundred pounds and may make a couple hundred revolutions in it's entire lifetime.:confused:
