    89 XJ help

What have you done to it so far? I ask because it may be helpful to know what you've had apart and put back together. When I rebuilt my 89XJ motor, I accidentally hooked the power plug for the electric fan into a sensor plug and fried the computer. It took me SO DANG MUCH WORK to figure that...

Accident Pulling doubles kills 40 Yr/old Man

Semis pull doubles a million miles a day. Of course, they have 5th wheel setups with the wheels of the front trailer on the absolute rear of the trailer, which makes a HUGE difference in that trailer's ability to control the next. Towing doubles is safe if done properly. Flat towing can...

    Obama is way ahead...

I currently cannot afford health insurance for my family, we often struggle to make ends meet. If the government called me up tomorrow and offered me free health insurance and free groceries, I'd tell them to go to hell. I'm not taking a handout stolen from someone else. Conservatism...

    mj extended e-brake cable

Some Comanches (sorry I can't help with which ones) came with brake cables that wrapped over the rear axle and came in from the rear side of the drums. If yours has that setup, swap backing plates side to side and make them come in from the front. You'll probably have about too much cable...

    Project Toyota Tacoma Doublecab

That much shackle angle may cause you some troubles in the future. For certain it will put a lot more strain on spring/shackle bushings and cause premature wear to those parts. On a potentially positive note, it will effectively lower the spring rate the more of an angle the shackle is laying...

    Shock recommendations? Bilstien?

I love my Bilstein 5125's! I also tossed a pair on the front of the JK. They blow away any other shock I've run. There's a guy on ebay that sells them cheap. Jared

    CO2 tank full?

Checked it tonight at room temperature... closer to 800psi.

    CO2 tank full?

Thank you Spork. I figured there needed to be some room for safety due to increasing pressure with temperature. It just seemed a bit extreme. The tank was still cold from being filled when I tested it. Should be interesting to see what it reads today at room temperature. Thanks, Jared

    CO2 tank full?

So, I bought a new 20lb Aluminum cylinder and a set of tank gauges with a regulator. The tank is stamped to hold a maximum of 1800psi. The tank gauge has a range of pressures colored green from 600-1200psi. This green area is labeled "Tank Full". I got the tank filled for the first time...

Converting a rack/pinion steering to saginaw

Did you have to make any special modifications to mount the box? I'm assuming most boxes don't just mount up to a flat surface on the frame. Also, do different boxes have significantly different steering ratios? I would like a fairly quick steering box... i.e. I want less turns lock to...

1990 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 high idle problem

Glad you solved this. A very effective, but potentially dangerous way to find vacuum leaks is to spray starting fluid slowly around the engine area. When the idle raises, you just found your leak. It will suck up the starting fluid and raise the idle speed. Just be sure to have a good fire...

Converting a rack/pinion steering to saginaw

I'm very seriously considering doing a SAS on my quad cab '04 Dakota and using it as my primary wheeling rig. There is one major hangup that needs to be addressed before I can proceed. This truck has a rack and pinion steering setup. I'm thinking that I could use an XJ steering box and...

I'll be there in a metallic-blue TJ with a white hard top. I'm bringing my 4 year old son dad. I'm anticipating 48" of snow, and I'm running 34" tires. I'll bring a shovel. Jared
