    Detroit "EZ" locker my butt.

... This would be the 8th and final, come hell or high water, time that I would be installing this godforsaken "EZ" locker. For this last attempt, my wife came out and kept me company. It was actually not bad working on it this time. It was cool out at 11pm and it was nice to get to see Hollie...

    Detroit "EZ" locker my butt.

So, Last Saturday, I was considering all the things that I wanted to get done on the TJ before I head down to the big Moab event.... Fall Fling 2006. At the time, I had open diffs with 3.55's, and was running 34" tires. I knew that this needed to change. Given my past years of experience...

Dome lamp on in TJ with the doors off... fix other than pulling fuses?

Chad is correct. I found no mention on how to disable the door switches in the owner's manual. However, there is a fuse labeled "Door Switch Defeat" - as chad said it is fuse #4, the lower right fuse in the panel behind the glove box. Apparently it's only purpose is to disable the door...

Dome lamp on in TJ with the doors off... fix other than pulling fuses?

So my dome lamps are on in the TJ now that my wife pulled the doors. Is there a secret switch you flip or something to disable the dome lamps being on due to an open door? I can pull the fuse, but it would be nice to still be able to turn on the dome lamps manually at night. Thanks guys, Jared

So, gas people....anyone thinking about ethanol?

It's important to note ethanol's high octane rating does not mean it is a higher performance fuel. It contains less energy than gasoline, and much less than diesel. This is why diesels typically get more miles per gallon than gas, and gas better than ethanol - there is actually more energy in...

    Help out in Ward Canyon??

Maybe we could drag it to the edge overlooking the parking lot and give it the ol' heave ho. Gravity is your friend. Load onto the trailer and head out. Jared

    Help out in Ward Canyon??

Wow! Upon further inspection, my cable looks to be about 300' of 3/8". Sweet! Jared

    Help out in Ward Canyon??

I've got a long winch extension cable, just needs some hooks put on. I'd love to put it to good use for this if we get involved. I'm thinking it's about a 150 footer. Jared

    Detroit driveability?

That's pretty much what I figured. I've driven lunchbox style lockers with both sticks and autos and agree that they're smoother with an auto. The TJ is both short wheelbased and a manual trans, so I wanted to be sure it wasn't an occasionally frightening experience to drive with a Detroit in...

    Detroit driveability?

So, I've got a TJ with the D44 rear axle with 3.55 gears and a factory limited slip. I have a LP D30 up front with 4.10's ready to go in the TJ. I'm going to regear the 44 to match the new front and will have to replace the carrier to do so. So I figure, "Why not get a nice locker while I'm...

Roof rack. Picked up a used one cheap and haven't looked back. Did I mention how nice it is to see out my entire back window? Jared

Could we make a group RME account at Home Depot?

Well nuts. Thanks for the information though. That still leaves the option of auto parts stores. I KNOW that most of them have discounts available for corporate accounts. I think that Autozone bases the discount you receive on the monthly volume that you purchase. Jared

Could we make a group RME account at Home Depot?

So I bought a house yesterday, and as I'm looking at the prices at the local Home Depot I was wondering how I could get a discount on things. Does Home Depot/Lowe's give a discount to contractors that have an account at the store? If so, could we at RME set up a non-credit (meaning you have...

    Moab, April 28th-May 1

WOOHOO! Dave, could you bring that TJ carpet kit down with you? I've been trying to find time to run down to SLC and get that from you but have been swamped with work and trying to get this trip together. Call me at 801-920-3044! Also, I'd love to see your 4.0L scrambler in action...

    Moab, April 28th-May 1

We will be there Thursday 1pm'ish until Sunday afternoon. I would LOVE to run some trails with you guys. We're heading down with some "1 trail per day" folks, so will have a lot of extra time to wheel. Let's make some plans! We're taking my TJ on it's maiden voyage. It has 4.5" of lift...

Identifying the brand of my lift...

OK, I'm looking through some PDF files for the installation of a Rancho lift kit. It's looking like it's the one. The control arms they show in the pictures look identical to my own. Thanks for looking.

Identifying the brand of my lift...

Yeah, I'm thinking with all the bright red powdercoating it's gotta be a Rancho or Skyjacker. I just wish they'd stamped their name into a part somewhere.

Identifying the brand of my lift...

It isn't this one (2.5" Rancho lift) as my control arms are angled about 5 inches from the axle end and powder coated bright red. Not even close to this one (4" Superlift kit) Not this either... (Skyjacker 2.5" lift kit) Skyjacker lists 4 different 2.5" lifts for TJ's, but none have the...

Identifying the brand of my lift...

OK folks, I just bought a TJ with an approximately 3" lift on it. It came with rectangular lower control arms with red poly bushings, with the axle ends of the arms cut/angled for clearance. The coils and lower control arms are powder coated bright red. It has a relocation bracket for the...
