Why not just pay-off your current rig. Ive always liked my vehicles better when they are paid off.

My dad had a bike about the same year and it was tall also. I remember someone at the sand dunes saying it was out of gas/nitrogen in the rear shock and thats why it was so tall/stiff. Something to that effect. Maybe look into it. We never had it re-charged and ended up selling it for quads .

This should sum it up for ya. The cut-off year for putting older motors in a vehicle is 1986. After that if its a newer engine (than the car) you'll be fine . The 1/2gal ratio I used didnt . Had some roundup from last year left over and sprayed the yard with that. Got better results .

My mechanic told me to carry an extra CPS with me on all trips (XJ) . I bought a Napa CPS and ran about $83 . He also said you can spay em with water a bit to cool it down .
