I spoke to my friend tonight, and he said he struck a deal with somebody. They're giving him a deposit now, and he'll actually transfer ownership near the end of February.

A couple days ago, I spotted the white 2dr JK with 'POLAR BEAR' decals on the hood. I saw this guy when we were running the Snakes on New Year's Day, though I've never met him or spoken to him. Anybody know who it is?
Now that Utah has essentially mandated* oxygenated fuel year-round, there is no such thing as "winter gas" any more. Something else is the culprit.
*: there are now only about a dozen stations throughout the state that offer pure gasoline. You can see them here.

It did all go together exactly as planned. It seemed to work okay, though the hardest trail that Jeep ever saw was Constrictor. I ended up selling that Jeep in the summer of 2006.
