OK, here are the latest tear-down and misc. fab/prep pics. We dropped the tub off this morning to have the interior, firewall, and underside lined. :greg:

Well, the FJ40 is in lots of different pieces right now, as the tear down is in full-swing. Cage is out, body is off, and the frame/chassis has been pulled out from under the hoist. I'll post pics of the teardown ASAP!

The more I think about this, the more I think its a bad idea. I really don't want to dash anyone's hopes, but I think you'll just end up with a rig that is (at best) a mediocre desert truck that still doesn't tow very well. The buggy you're talking about has got to be atleast 3000 lbs. and...

That really sucks about the truss. When we install those trusses here at the shop, we "box in" the front so that doesn't happen. Unfortunately, there are so many shapes of different housings, it has to be custom taylored by the person doing the install. I'm kinda surprised to not see any at...

Well, its just like a rig built for both street and off-road. The more capable off-road generally equals a less "streetable" rig (and vice-versa). The same goes for a pre-runner style truck and towing. There is a happy medium there, somewhere I suppose. Depending on how much travel the rear...

I've never met Ken Block, but I've gone dirt biking with his team manager. He takes his bike along when he transports Ken' STI around the country. Earlier this year, we did some riding out at Knolls, so I got to check out that STI up close. Damn sweet, for a car that is... :p

Yeah, with plenty of other projects taking up our time, the Cruiser has been getting a bit neglected. However, with a few more projects recently out of the way, we're gonna focus alot more time on it, then we can hand it off to Jack.

Kurt is right, and I'll look into getting the license. More than anything, I could use some education on how to get the most out of 'em. In the meantime, you'll have to catch me to give me that ticket Kurt. :p

I just recently did alot of research on hand-held radios. If you want to get a little more serious ($130-ish per unit), look into the Yaesu VX-170 (or similar) DX or "ham" radios. As-is, they're good for up to 10-12 miles depending on terrain, but if you add an 18" rubber whip antennae, you...
