    Used car extended warranties...

I had a Route 66 warranty (I think) about 10 years ago. Paid $2k for it when I bought my 2002 f-350 7.3 with 125k on it. Within the first year, I needed a starter, glow plugs, and a whole new transmission. Like $8k in repairs. Warranty covered all of it, was not a problem. Had all the work done...

    Are Riding Lawn Mowers Phat?

I got rid of my riding lawn mower when kids were old enough to mow. Walk behind mowers makes kids into good adults. Recently got it back from the guy who had it for my son’s yard care business; cub cadet zero turn mower, Kawasaki engine. Would recommend.

    BEST Roof top tent?

    Political So now what

I’m actually a fan of teachers having the same base pay, but massive bonuses based on performance metrics. That money should come from the money we would save if the new schools these days all didn’t look like Apple Inc corporate buildings. Why are we building high schools that look like college...

    Political So now what

Source: my wife taught school. Of my five kids, regardless of which insurance or even no insurance we had at the time, they all cost about $10k out of pocket, except when she was teaching, and it was about $50. What’s your comparison group for acceptable benefits? Goldman Sachs? Do you think...

    Political So now what

Good BS call. I was misremembering - her husband, a cop, had the base salary of 90k. She has been teaching for 6 years, has a salary of $61k, benefit package of $44k, total compensation of $105k. For 9 months work, which equates to $140k if it was a year round gig

    Political So now what

Teachers only work 9 months, have all the benefits known to man, and start at $52k. Is the idea of a career having a living wage that it is there on day one, no one ever has to pay their dues and work their way up? My sister in law makes 90k before benefits 8 years in, will retire after 20 years...

JL or Bronco purchase in near future.

My wife wants me to sell our gladiator, she misses our bronco. It is night and day better as a road driving vehicle. Way more interior room, steady handling, I would drive across the country in it without a second thought. If you don’t care so much about road manners then the JL is pretty...

Land Rover Bench Build: Range Rover L322

If I’m ever rich I’ll own a new, under warranty Land Rover. Probably lease, actually. I don’t know of another vehicle that is as universally acknowledged to be so filled with problems. Even the fan boys on the forums say if you want reliable, obviously get a Land Cruiser. BUT, the awesomeness is...

It’s funny. But also, I think the world’s assessment of Turkey went up, and its view of Australia went down. I speak for the world.

Mental health: it’s ok to talk.

This is really good. My dad has had to deal with depression his whole life. But he grew up on a dairy farm, and he knew those cows didn’t give a rip about his feelings, they needed to be milked twice a day. He learned that hard work and looking outside yourself can be some of the best therapy...

Hmm, I have not. But if Kurt is foolhardy enough to take car buying, or marriage advice from ME, he deserves whatever consequences derive from that decision

Exactly. Those vehicles are filling that void in your soul; would she really take that away from you? Maybe tell her for every car you sell she has to bear you a child, so it’s totally her call. Fair all around.
