    Home made gear

I made the family down sleeping bags. Mine, the biggest one is something like 22 ounces, and I’ll sleep in it down to just above freezing. It was a fun project, everyone picked their own colors. My girls have grown out of theirs so it’s about time to make a few more. I used 850 fill down and rip...

Trip Report Baja; San Felipe & the Chenowth Legacy Lodge over Thanksgiving

Can confirm Algodones was the right answer - Mexicali took us 2h45m - after a thorough search of our RV which I was not allowed to observe - way more intense than any military checkpoints we passed

    How to spectate Baja 1000

Thanks for all the advice, we had a great time. The spot I scoped out on google maps was a pit stop for a handful of teams, which added a fun element. Our kids loved seeing the first few cars blow by, then they got bored. Probably not many other people reading Dr Seuss a few feet from...

    How to spectate Baja 1000

Thanks for all the input, we're pretty excited. I downloaded the course GPS file, and with my napkin math it looks like trucks will start passing MP350 at 4pm at the soonest (50mph avg speed for the trophy trucks). The sun is setting just before 6 right now, so I think we may drive a little...

    Your Pic of The Day

2.5 years old, never seen fireworks (he’s always been in bed). These things start going off last night, and he’s in awe.

    How to spectate Baja 1000

By chance we will be in Baja during the big race. We will be in Mulege which is out of the way of the 2023 race course. Looking for advice from those who have been on how to best experience the race as a spectator? Sitting in a camp chair to see a car blast by every few hours doesn’t seem...

Anyone been down by Moab or Swells recently?

White rim is a mess, I’ve heard there may be some sections that need to be rebuilt

She’s tiny! I think the age is more about maturity/understanding/ability to communicate than size. Looks like the seat needs 20mm of the dropper collar to mount. Maybe increase seat height by that much and see if it’s noticeable?

    Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

Timely question! I just ordered a Mac ride a few minutes ago. My little guy will be 2 in June, so he’ll probably be ready to upgrade from his Thule mini yepp this spring. IMO there are only two good options, the mac ride or the kids ride shotgun pro. I went with the Mac ride because most...

    Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

I bonked today o_O I knew what bonking is just never experienced it before. My typical lunch ride is 10ish miles, today was the same, 2 laps on the practice loop from town. As I rounded the corner of Dave’s Market, it started to hit me, I considered grabbing something but figured my work is...

    Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

900 miles by October is impressive! 750 was a big year for me, trying to decide on next year. This fall I rode quite a bit more, I’m I’m debating 40m/week and 2k for the year. It’d be a huge stretch from this year. Finished up last ride of the year on North 40 with my riding buddy that never...

    Any Mtn Bikers on RME?

I’m 1.4 miles away from my annual goal (750), and can’t figure out when to squeeze in a ride by Saturday  My bike is at my office and I’m on kid duty until Saturday. Normally I’d just take my kids for a ride, but it’s pretty darn cold out!

Great rack! It’s neat how quick the velocirax took over. Of all vehicles I see rolling through town, the majority with >2 bikes are on velocirax. I’m still wearing out my fork crown paint on my north shore. The only reason I’m still using it is it’s easiest to install, remove, store, fold up...

Mental health: it’s ok to talk.

Yeah! He loved our rig, he was my phone a friend when I needed a quick someone to bounce ideas off, and he built our transmission when we did the LS swap. I knew it was possible someone on here knew him since he was a gearhead. If you end up attending his services (no date yet), introduce...
