Jeep Advice on tires and wheels for the XJ

When I installed the lift on the jeep I never did anything with bumpstops since I didn't know what I would end up with for wheels and tires. Here is the front tire stuffed to where the shock is just about fully compressed. The bumpstops are still about 3" short of making contact. I got some 2"...

Jeep Advice on tires and wheels for the XJ

I've only driven it a couple of miles in town to run to NAPA. With the Jeep empty and at low speeds I don't have any complaints about the tire size and gearing. We will see if that changes loaded up for camping trying to do 80mph up mountains.

If me and my wife don't end up planning a camping trip for that weekend I will.

Jeep Advice on tires and wheels for the XJ

Originally I really wanted to stick with a 15" rim and was pretty skeptical about going up to the 17" Rubicon wheels but I like it. Still have to flex it out and see what might need to be trimmed. Need to hit some trails also...

Jeep Advice on tires and wheels for the XJ

You are familiar with the existing tires I have. These definitely will be an upgrade. I called Discount and they said they don't do siping anymore. I asked the guy if it was just that location or Discount Tires in general and he said none of them do it anymore. He said siping in general is...

    TRUMP: Whats the real deal?

The funny thing about this is guess who is in the United States because of "chain migration". Melania Trump's parents. Also, guess who originally came here on a tourist visa and worked illegally. Melania Trump.

They do have customer service. The problem is you are not a customer you are a product. The customers are the people that buy advertising and your data. I have the same problem with Chase and not receiving their texts for 2FA. Luckily most of the time they give you the option of sending a code...

    Let talk $$$

I am currently saving for a house down payment and have been putting all that money in an Ally savings account that has a 2% interest rate which is pretty nice. I have heard their customer service is good although I have never had to use it (the best customer service is the one you never need)...

Jeep Advice on tires and wheels for the XJ

I am working on getting adapters from @kmboren and will be going the JK takeoff route for wheels and tires. This should let me try out bigger tires while being able to resell them at not too huge of a loss if I am not happy with them. How are the Bridgestone Duelers? I'm not familiar with...

    TRUMP: Whats the real deal?

Except the contractors that won't get paid and the people struggling living paycheck to paycheck that won't be able to pay bills and best case have late fees they will have to pay that they can't afford. Maybe things were already pretty bad and this will be late payment that gets their car...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

Thanks. We got super lucky that we did Monument Valley Sunday when it was nice because it would gave been pointless Monday with the poor visibility.

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

We will definitely do the Big Bend trip in the future. We were super disappointed that we had to cancel it. Especially since Big Bend wasn't actually closed (roads were open but visitor centers and other facilities were closed). It was mostly the fact that all the stops we wanted to make in New...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

Its was definitely the coldest trip my wife has been on. I grew up backpacking in the winter in the Adirondack mountains in NY where waking up with a temp of -10° was a regular occurrence so I'm a bit used to it. There is something about camping in the cold/snow that I really love. It seems far...

    1992 Land Rover Defender 110

I'm not an expert but from what I have researched the downsides to LED headlights are: They don't get hot so if you are driving in the snow they can ice over and get snow built up on them. More expensive LED headlights have built in heaters to avoid this. The light from LEDs is more blue than...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

Monday (New Years Eve) morning we woke up to even more snow and it kept coming down. We had planned to head up into the Bears Ears area and spend another night but after 5 nights of sleeping in the cold, reduced visibility from the snow, the fact that the tires on the Jeep are horrible in the...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

We hopped in the Jeep and backtracked a bit to Monument Valley. I was a bit skeptical of paying to get in at first but it was totally worth it. After we finished with Monument Valley we headed back to Valley of the Gods and drove the loop there. We stopped close to our camp to watch the...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

Saturday we woke up, packed up and headed to our next destination which was Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods. We stopped in Page for gas and some supplies that we forgot (we left all our breakfast food at home in the freezer). That night we got to Valley of the Gods in the dark and found...

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

On our way back to camp we stopped at another ranch area with a large pump/well so I could check out an old truck. I found somebody's day planner from 1999/2000 in the truck. Only 1 page was filled in. I took a picture and left it in the truck for others to find.

Trip Report A Holiday adventure on the Utah/Arizona boarder

When we left the edge and started driving back we noticed the remains of a log hut off the road and stopped to investigate. There are a lot of old rustic cabins around this area but we stumbled on an actual house. It looked like it has been a long time since somebody lived there but there...
