South-East Utah March RME Trip; The San Rafael Swell

I'm planning to get down there between 8:30 and 9. If other people are coming and going to show up a bit later I don't mind being early. I don't remember if there is cell service in that area or not but I will check the forum in the morning before I leave civilization to see if anybody has made...

South-East Utah March RME Trip; The San Rafael Swell

I wouldn't mind heading out at 5am which should get me down there around 8:30. I'll see what the other latecomers to the trip say tomorrow about when they want to get there and we can make a final decision. If others want to get there even earlier I just prefer to not have to get up before 3am...

South-East Utah March RME Trip; The San Rafael Swell

It sounds like everybody that has confirmed except me will be getting there Friday at some point. I will be driving down from SLC Saturday morning. Do we still want to stick with the plan of meeting at the San Rafael Bridge campground at 10? I can get down there earlier if we want to meet...

It's looking like the probability of me being able to make it out is high. I have 2 Baofeng handhelds I will bring with me. Don't have a HAM license yet but we can use MURS or some of the other unlicensed frequencies.

I'm doing what I can to get my brother's house painted so I can go. We worked until 12:30 last night. Heading back over there now. I really want to go on this trip.

Why do you drive what you drive off-road?

I needed something for weekend camping trips in Utah and prefer to stay out of popular areas so I needed something that would be able to get me into the more remote areas away from crowds of people. Given the terrain we have in this state I needed something fairly capable off road. My Forester...

South-East Utah March RME Trip; The San Rafael Swell

I'm a maybe on this and probably won't make a decision until Thursday or Friday. My brother is remodeling a house he bought and I am supposed to be helping him with painting. We are currently waiting for the drywallers to finish before we get started. They were supposed to be done last week so...

South-East Utah March RME Trip; The San Rafael Swell

I may be in. I will try to make a final decision by tomorrow and let you guys know. Will an XJ w/ 3.5" lift, 29" tires, rear spartan locker, rock sliders and gas tank skid plate be able to make it down the trails you plan to run?

Gear / Accessories Recommendations needed for recovery strap

I ended up picking up an ARB snatch strap from @cruiseroutfit and then getting the Rugged Ridge tow strap.

Wanted Need 15x7 stock XJ wheel 5x4.5 bolt pattern

I'm in South Salt Lake but wouldn't be opposed to driving out to you for some help from somebody that has a better idea of what they are doing. I need to get pictures off my wife's phone to show how it happened better but here is the short version. I was driving up Left Hand Collet Canyon...

Wanted Need 15x7 stock XJ wheel 5x4.5 bolt pattern

I'm in South Salt Lake/Millcreek. Looking at it it doesn't look like the tire spun on the rim. The bead still appears to be seated on both sides. I was on super slick ice when it happened so the tire shouldn't have been able to get enough traction to rotate the tire relative to the rim with...

Wanted Need 15x7 stock XJ wheel 5x4.5 bolt pattern

Interesting... Doesn't seem that there is any harm in trying. Even if I can get a free wheel I would still have to pay to get it mounted and balanced. I guess I need to go sledgehammer shopping. You think I can just pound it back into place with the tire still on there? Any tips for how to do it?

Wanted Need 15x7 stock XJ wheel 5x4.5 bolt pattern

I was down in Escalante over the holiday weekend and destroyed one of my wheels. Looking for a replacement. They are stock XJ wheels 15x7 with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. Bonus if it matches the one below but isn't a requirement. I can't find any damage to the tire so just need a new wheel to put this...

Gear / Accessories Recommendations needed for recovery strap

Thanks. I was thinking both would most likely be the best to have. Awesome. I will hit them up tomorrow. The ARB Snatch Strap from them doesn't appear to be as expensive as I thought it would be.

Gear / Accessories Recommendations needed for recovery strap

So I recently got my XJ set up with front and rear recovery points. I now need a recovery strap so I can make use of them and have no experience in this. Any recommendations on what I should get? I have been doing research and know that you don't want a tow strap for recovery and you want...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I can take more if you want but it's basically just a sleeve with a shoulder in it and an alien head bolt that goes through and sits against the shoulder.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Long day in the garage but I got the following done on the XJ. Front tow hooks installed. Front skid plate installed. Storage pins for sway bar disconnects mounted on skid plate. No more zip ties when I disconnect. Rock Sliders installed.

    Favorite iPad GPS software¿

I use Gaia. I really like it. I don't have experience with any of the others. I used to use it on an iPhone but now use it on Android.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I will paint your living room for XJ parts. I seriously enjoy painting. Also, I picked up some previously installed but not actually used rock sliders for $200. I'm pretty sure they are JCR ones. Gonna be installing those soon.
