00 Jeep Wrangler suspension - What to get, where to go, how much to pay?

'yea this is beating the bush a little but I had a 4 inch Skyjacker lift and 33's and I rubed a full flex and 35's where a constant proble untillthe body lift. Quite a few pennies later I am goin gto a six inch Long arm lift (Full-traction) that handles great on the road and flexes great on the trail.

But I would go with a 4 inch lift and 33's till you get the wheeling thing down. Dont want to be like those ass'es who have great vehicles but cant/wont drive them anywhere tough.

As far as gearing your on your own. I went to 4.88's and loved it but I had a 4 banger and needed the gear reduction with a six it's rumored that you can run around with 4.56's. I am switching to a 5.3L and still running 4.88 (tranny has 70% overdrive so it works for the freeway) and great tourque off-road.

4' kit will work great for 33", you will need to add a 1.75" spacer for 35" tires. Get a long arm suspension kit if you go to the 35" tires. The ride is too harsh with the short (stock or Terra) arm kit.

I ran stock springs with 33X10.50 tires only using a 1.75" spacer kit with no problems on stock rims before I tried 35" tires. Went to a full 4" lift kit for that. The upgraded to a long arm kit.

Currently running 37" tires with a new 7" lift kit. Much more work to use the 37" tires. I have an automatic and still run the STOCK 3.73 ratio with a 4to1 kit in the transfer case. A little doggey on the freeway, but really no problem and still great off road.

Dang! How's Gas mileage hurting ya? My bro gets about 120 - 150 to the tank in his XJ running 35" Pro Comp All Terrains or 33" MT/R's with the auto... Thats why I love my manual... Freeway going down to Moab I got about 15 - 17 mpg stock gear ratio with 33's... :D

The gears are not that bad with a standard, really. Put a throttle body spacer and flowmaster on it and your ready to go.

Off subject here, but what does the throttle body spacer do for you as far as gains???
