I have a coolant leak and do not like the idea of just tightening the clamps. Has anyone double clamped this passenger side leak to make a more permanent fix or is there a better solution? And when did they start making coolant red? At first I thought it was a transmission leak.

I tightened the clamps about 2 years ago and have not had any problems since. I was talking to a service tech at the dealer about it and was told you can tighten them probably twice before you NEED to replace them.

With only 41K miles it looks like a design flaw to me. I will discuss with dealer when I take it in to have the oil changed. My coolant is low so it has been going on for awhile. Now to find the special coolant.

The red coolant is designed to have less corrosion on your internal parts I would not recommend swapping and I think that most parts houses carry it now....just my two cents

It was $18.00 with the U4 discount at LHM. There is no TSB out on it but the part has been modified/changed so that means it wasn't a design flaw just too many people complaining. The new part is about $20 and since it is just a cooling system hose piece it must be jazzy.

It's a fairly common issue to have the small hose up by the turbo leaking. The factory used those compression style clamps and they just loosen up. Most of the time the fix is to swap the compression clamps out with the screw type and that solves the problem. At least that was the issue with mine. The dealer swapped mine while it was still under warranty and I have not had any other coolant issues.

Mine had screw clamps so I just tightened them. It looks like this will have to be added to my regular maintenance schedule. CHECK CLAMPS ONCE PER YEAR.

Avatar every other post??? It came up after I edited.
