i'm getting ready for a 5.3 in my TJ. I have a 97, but will be converting it over to run an 05-06 TJ pump. they put out the required pressure the 5.3 needs. Novak said this works great, and Venture13 on here did this in his 5.3 TJ with great success.

I did the 5.3 conversion in my 91 wrangler. Bought a new Airtex pump motor since I had the tank out anyway ($80). It puts out 95 psi which is plenty. Novak said that since the gas tank pump cover was rectangular, that stock pump has 95 psi as well.

I have found a few pumps out there that put out the 65 psi but what makes me worried is that they are supposed to put out 500 lbs/hr and most of the pumps out there that are under $300 dont put out that much. is this something to be worried about, or is the pressure what matters the most

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
You need to make sure that your pump puts out the required flow at that certin psi. If I remember right, the 5.3 need like 52psi to run all day long. If you have 51psi, they wont run. Your pump will tell you it puts out a certin volume at a certin psi. If the needed volume drops off at 52 psi, it will run but be sluggish.

Cam, I'm running a Walbro 255lph (litres per hour--which is a lot) inline pump on my 5.3 which requires ls1 fuel pressure (around 62 psi if I recall correctly) and it runs awesome. Also, I remember reading somewhere that these pumps are able to run dry for a relatively long time before damage occurs, just in case you end up on your side with it running. I just googled them and it looks like they retail pretty cheap, between $70 and $80, plus fittings and shipping.

Here is a link to a graph showing delivery volume, pressure, and amp draw. At 13.5 volts, you get about 65 gallons per hour at 55 psi and 14.5 amps, which will float your boat superbly :) You have to scroll down a little on the page to see it.
