1.75” tube clamps? Starlink mini mount ideas.

My Starlink mini just showed up and I’m brainstorming of ways. I can build a quick attach and quick release mount for it.

This will mainly be used on the Van, allowing me more freedom to be in the places that I want to be and still be able to maintain connection for work.

I’m wondering if anybody knows of an 1.75” tube clamp that has a quick release?

If I can’t come up with anything like that, I’m thinking of maybe doing something like the quick release fire extinguisher style mount you see on roll cages that uses a pin to secure it.

But I’m also open to other ideas. I want to be able to mount this on the ladder on the side of my van.

A picture of the ladder for reference.

Have you been using Starlink for a while? I'm interested to know what you think. The folks I know who have tried to go remote with it report mixed results, seems like Muskie oversold the bandwidth and it's pretty spotty now?

Something on a Quickfist was my first thought. But that fire extinguisher mount seems like a good idea too.
That’s a good idea. Something like this.
The cool thing about that would be I could use a little bit longer pipe to mount it on, and I could adjust how high it sits, depending on what I need.

Actually, thinking about that I have like a shovel head that a friend made me years back. That’s on a jack handle that I currently have on some quick fists mounted on the back. I could actually use that as the mounting pole..

I haven’t. I’ve been using T-Mobile’s home Internet. And then I have the wilson electronics cell booster. And it works great in places with service. But that’s super limiting on where you can be.

The Starlink doesn’t seem to be affected by the fiberglass top at all. I’ve also noticed that setting it up with proper orientation seems to make marginal differences also. This little thing just works. So I found a 3-D printed mount on Etsy. That’s designed to fasten it to a sunroof and took the suction cups off and put fender washers on bolts and epoxy them to the roof. I guess we’ll see how long it holds up. But the good part is, I don’t have to set it up or take it down now.. just flip the switch to turn it on and off

You might not need this since yours is "permanently" mounted, but I thought this was pretty cool:

That actually is super cool. I made a little adapter to hook a drill battery up to mine, but it’s not nearly as sleek as that. And the cool thing about having dual batteries you can hot swap one at a time so it doesn’t turn off and have to reboot and align.

I definitely would like a set up like that to use when it’s not in the van. Currently, I’m driving to Colorado in my Tahoe for work and I have the Starlink mini with me.

Currently traveling through Wyoming, where T-Mobile does not work in many many places. I typically go several hours at a time without cell service in Wyoming. This little guy sitting on the dash doesn’t skip a beat. I just finished up a teams video call for Work in a location I never would’ve been able to join in the past.

It works fantastic in motion, although I hear at 100 miles an hour they stop the service because they want to upgrade to their aviation plan.

I’ve been very happy with Starlink.
