I tried a variety of combination in search, and I don't have a red star on pirate.... here goes.

I'm sick of seeing great deals on 15" wheels and 15" wheel specific tires.
I'm also tired of looking for deals on 17"wheels and 17"wheel based tires.

I want to know if there is a magic 15"wheel, or a magic caliper that will clear a 15" wheel on a 79 F350 60.
I really don't want to grind shave the calipers, but this idea is becoming less revolting to me as time wears on.

ideas?

Oh yeah... I also don't want to be 8 miles wide.

Thanks guys.

You have a choice to make, with your criteria...you can either spend money, or spend money.

One way involves buying 16" or 17" wheel/tire stuff, the other way involves converting to smaller brake components.

My personal choice, go with the larger wheels. I think it'll be cheaper in the short run than converting the brakes, and you'll be happier with the smaller sidewall on a large tire anyway. Plus, you keep your nice dual-piston calipers. :D

I ground down my chevy calipers which are bigger than the ford. Clears fine and the brakes still work. I do have quite an offset wheel though.

My buddy has a ford 60 and it looks like it will only require half the grinding the chevy did.

Ideally though........buy bigger wheels. As soon as I bust a caliper thats what I want to do.

Depending on the Ford 60, they can be a bear to grind. Ask "nvrstuk" here--I ground down his '78-'79 Ford calipers down to fit standard-backspaced 15" rims, and eventually his caliper bracket allowed the caliper to remove itself and hit the rim.

Rock stomper has a kit that will change the spindle rotor and caliper that will allow you to run a standard 15" wheel.
I am\was in the same situation where as I got a killer deal on some 39.5 Iroks on 15 wheels. So now, the plan is the grind down the calipers so the wheel fits. We'll see how long it lasts. I also have heard differing oppinions on it. Billavista on pirate has a tech article on it.
