My boss is wanting to do an axle swap on his 1970 blazer. He is going to put a 3/4 to chevy axles a front Dana 44 and a rear SF 14 bolt. It will not be used for serious off-roading more of a boulevard buggy if you ask me. He doesn't have access to a lot of tools such as torch and welder and what not. My question is what all will it require? I know the rear spring perches will need to be moved. Other than that how much work will it be? The front perches are the same, shouldn't it bolt right under? Other than the spring perches what will it take to get the rear end under?

It should have a 10 bolt front axle already, everyone says they are the same strength as a D44.

My dad's '71 has a ten bolt front end from factory...
No... it didnt... it may have been swapped to a 10 bolt later on in life, but if its a '71 it came with a dana 44 in the front, '77 was the first year for the corp 10 bolt in the front for trucks, blazers and suburbans

My brother's 78 Blazer had a 44 from the factory. Its now narrowed and sitting in my commando.

correct...my 78 had one as well 77-79 they used both they're both equally weak, 60's are cheap right now why not go all the way and be done;)

I couldn't sell my 44 so I gave it away:rofl:

My grandpa bought it brand new, and he can assure you it has never had a front axle swap.

They didnt start building the 10 bolts untill later in the 70's, its hard for it to come with something that didnt exist.
