Wow, That is beautiful I wanted to originally start with a 1st gen but never found a nice one. Now I'm struggling to find a clean 2nd gen.

Crap, that is NICE!

Yeah, it is in really nice shape, I hate to see it go but i just have way to many things on my plate right now. I was thinking about setting it on a 2wd tacoma chassis. A slammed 82 with a 2rz and a 5 spd would be fun.:D

Is the bed any good? Is it available?

Frame/chassis? Is it available or usable?

Are bucket seats a bolt in affair?

What do you know about frame/body mount points regarding a 2nd gen frame vs a 1st gen Truck...I want to say they are the same??
You don't happen to have a 22R/RE AC setup do you?

The bed is trashed, good tailgate though. The frame is pretty clean, still has the leaf springs on it. It is a longbed. As far as cab mounts go I am not really sure, I never got that far, but making some new ones wouldn't be a big deal.
That sucks about the ac, i threw out the whole system from my 86. Figures though, anytime I throw something out I find someone who needs it.

SOLD!!! Thanks Rick

Well I pulled the trigger on a '86 X-Tra cab with A/C tonight. Gave the guy 100.00 to hold it until Monday when we can dolly out to Rick's place.

Hopefully it all works out, it is not the cleanest of the bunch, but I've seen nastier.

I took it for a drive and while it does drive, thank the Lord I have a solid drivetrain to stuff under it because the IFS is shot. I can't imagine having to shell out $$ to have it repaired.

The A/C "works" but needs a shot of R-12.

I was really hoping for a Tan interior so I could swap the '84's relatively clean stuff in but nope, it's gray. Fortunatly Rick comes through again and provides a decent '88 4Runner with gray interior for my plundering.

The cab will need a good tear down and a thorough douching but I have to remeber how filthy the '84 was...parked for a year with windows down...

It looks like the Red 83 will go to Hunter, Thanks kyle for holding it for me, I really liked the 4 link on your toyota, I may have to go that route, I look forward to seeing it on trail,
One more project, I cant wait to start!!!,

When I got ito this rockcrawaling thing with John I had an 89 cherokee to build, now it is a DD and i have a yard full of toyota's.

That is stellar... So will you trim down te bed in length? Or try something new for the rear? Have you put much thought into that portion yet? :)

We'll be using the same flatbed for now, just re-locating it further aft. This will place it 9" further than the '84's.

Plans for today are:

Paint the '84 frame
Repair rear spring hangers
Re-locate aft cab body mounts/clearance cab for fuel tank
Install fresh T-chain and H20 pump on 22R
Maybe swap the cab onto frame--We'll see how long the T-chain takes.

9"s might look silly.. But oh well, that fits you. :)

Update with pics during the course of the day..

I think i'm coming down with the black lung... I might have to "leave" work for the rest of the day... PM your address ;)

Class of 81!!!! I can't belive the shirt is still alive after all these years. it used to fit pads under it, the last time i tried on my lettermans jacket the sleves fit about where the shirt sleves do.

So who knows about paint? I talked to JKesler on RME and he does great work but I need something less high end.

Any good Maaco experiences?

Man I love that bumper!!! You want that I should help mount a winch in that? I also think you should leave it "hoodless". It has a mean look to it. (ie. an east L.A. look)

Yeah, I didn't know Roberto lived so close...hopefully I'll score a dent free hood tomorrow.

P.S. What an honor to be graced with your first post.
