The stuff I grabbed from the metal place is grievously undersized, so I'm in need of about two and half feet. Anybody have some, or know where I could get a small amount?

I'm trying to remember if I have any at home from my build, you are talking about what a receiver hitch will go into, correct?

Ok, I was thinking 2" ID square tube.
I am fairly certain I have what you need, I won't be home till about 7pm tonight to check, sorry.
However, if you two need it, you are welcome to it.

SSS will have it, and there's a good chance they'd have some in their remnant area so you could get it cheap. It's just 2" square tube, 1/4" wall.

That'd be awesome, Brian, and I'd be happy to give you a couple bucks for it. Lemme know.

I thought SSS just sold large amounts. I'll give them a shot too, thanks!

I don't know what "grievously" means, but I've always bought mine (both male and/or female reciever hitch parts) from metal mart. They sell precut sections in 1', 2' or 3', and also available with the 5/8" hole pre drilled if you like.

I also may have some left over, but won't know for sure until tomorrow.

Ok i have racked by brain....SSS, who is it

They have become my preferred source fr steel. They have got a great remnant section. Prices on new steel are better than others also. They also have a pretty good show room.

But take a lunch with you because they are the SLOOOOOWEST at loading anything. I have never waited less than 1/2 hour for them to pick and load my steel. Even when I'm the only one there.

agreed, I only go to them now. But with only two guys in the shop they take their time. I have waited 2 hours before when getting steel for work back in WA, so these guys to me don't take to long. But usually I can make due with what they have in their remnants bay. Plus the guys at the counter and good guys. All remnants no matter the quantity is $0.50/lb
