2000 f350 tranny or transfer case problem ???

I went wheeling on turkey day .and had to put the truck in 4LO. we got back down to low land and took it out of 4 wheel drive and it would not go. I put it back in 4LO it would move about two inches and then stop.finally got it to go forward but could only go 15 mph and about 1100 rpm or it would kick out of gear.made it home in about 1 1/2 hours. i can get it to back and fourth untill i push in tha brake and then nothing. I hope someone can help thanks.

Did you put it in neutral to shift out of 4 lo. Are the hubs causing to pop out? Probably the t case shift motor.

yes it is in neutral and i put the hubs in both lock and auto lock and no diffrents it seems like it is half in and out of gear or something i hate all this electric and computer crap in these newer trucks.

you should be able to get underneath and by the actuator motor on t-case manually select high 2wd with a ratchet (as memory serves) that will at least get you on the road again

Thanks i will try that tomorrow when i get off of work.I hope it works.all other rig have manual tranny and transfer case.easy to work on.

I had that happen once. I had to get it rolling and shift tranny into neutral, then flip the switch. It took a couple of tries, but finally got it to go. Mine was/is caused by a leaking air line on the $#%@ auto hubs. I still haven't fixed them, but haven't had the problem like that since the one bad episode.

I got it backed in to the shop with the switch in 2HI it seamed to work ok tell i hit the brake and than nothing.shut truck off let it sit for a min. tryed it agian and the same thing happend and i cant see any place on the transfer to shift it in manuly.

I took off the motor on the t-case and shifted it manuly in all of the gears.and the same thing happens the motor seems to be working ok. does any one think it might be the torque converter going out.

I dont know when we got home i havent went any wear in it just back and fouth in the drive way and in to the shop . the front drive line will spin freely when its in 2HI.

I took it out today went 1/4 mile 1 2 3 shifted good and then just like you put it in neutral shut it off let it sit for a min start back up go about 20' than same thing.Im starting to think tranny is fried.

I'm really liking my t-case floor shifter now. My dad had trouble with his selector, but not like you're having.

Post up what the problem was when you get it figured out.

Im getting ready to pull down my pants and take it to the dealer and im sure its gona hirt.thanks for the help so far I will post up the results when i find out.

I pulled the pan and the filter fell out with the pan.I drained and flushed. put new filter in and fluid and went for a ride all was cool.1 2 3 and Re back good to go. went out to the lane to get some speed up went to go in to OD and started to bang real bad.put the od on off and good to go .I think TRANNY is DOA .any good tranny shops in logan or ogden.I dont know how far i can make it this was my tow rig????

I got my truck back sat.tranny was fried the OD blew up and the filter fell out of the hole and let it suck all kinds of stuff through the pump not much left but the shell.full HD rebiuld job.two legs four toes 1 3/4 arm. Stub left to right out check. 2600.00 thanks for all the help.it was just wierd the way it all happend. ya and i did drive it to the shop.the tranny had been rebiult before cheep fix just to get read of it.
