Yeah. Give me a call, mine was doing the same thing.

I replaced the following:

STC fitting on the High Pressure Oil Pump
Dummy Plugs
Stand Pipes
ICP
Fuel Pressure Regulator

Now its finally starting all the time, not just when cold. And my mileage is already getting better.

I also switched to 10w30 Rotella Semi Synthetic Diesel Oil for the winter and spring.

I also put in really expensive coolant that won't gel up like the ford crap.

I do not really care for Ford trucks but, the 6.0 power stroke is not a bad engine. Yeah, I said it, not a bad engine. Here's the thing about Ford and the 6.0. The 6.0 was still made by International but, when Ford put that engine into their truck chassis Ford had to make a few compermises to get that engine to meet government emission standards. With each compermise the engine drifted further and further away from the way International had it set up. Look, most of the issues with that engine can be traced back to some emission piece of equipment. The UPS delivery guy we have for our shop has a 6.0 International power stroke engine in his UPS delevery truck. His delevery truck did not have to meet emission standards because it is not considered a light truck. So, his engine does not have an EGR valve, catalytic converter, or any other piece of emission equipment. That engine and truck have over 400,000 miles of the roughest kind of mileage. Stop and go, off and on, up mountain roads, gravel roads, and unimproved or minimally maintained roads.

Once all the emissions equipment has been modified or removed the engine is a fantistic power plant. And this comes from a fella who despises Ford trucks.

Well, go it back from Baker's Diesel in West Haven! Great shop. They lined up all the turbo piping and looked it over. No more leaks and apparently I have a much bigger turbo then stock. He said its a $1600 turbo. Nice. I have no idea who built it, it was on the truck when I bought it. They said the engine looked to be in great shape. So hopefully it'll go another 100K miles before it needs anything. Right now it has 185K on it. I might as well keep it after all the work I've put into it.
