2006 Wrangler six speed

Anybody familiar with the internals of the NSG370 transmission. Mine has started making lots of noise in 5th and 6 gears. Started out of the blue. I priced out a new one from Jeep and damn...$$$ Jeep has 77000 miles on it. I have not drained the fluid yet to check for shiny stuff.

Can't say that I'm familiar, but have you looked at buying a used one from a wrecked Jeep? Check out Car-Part.com, should be able to find all kinds of options and various prices.

I just found one in Cali for 1500 bucks I am going to call on it tomorrow.

Something to consider is that the AX15 should be a direct replacement, you lose a 6th gear but rebuilt AX15's are under $1200. The AX15, NV3550, and NSG370 are usually considered all equally strong.

If you do get a replacement transmission I will pay you core charge value for your old 6spd.

After looking into swapping it into my XJ it has no durabilty advantage over my AX15, and very little gear advantage, with the known compatibility issues, CPS, t-case clocking, shift lever, and knowing that there will be un-known swap issues it would cost me minimum $1200 to rebuild and install the 6spd in my XJ (not counting the cost of the "core" transmission). It will cost me about $500 to rebuild my AX15. Even I don't want a 6spd that bad. (that cost difference almost covers a Teraflex Dual Rate swaybar which is a better use of the money)

I have considered a 5 speed swap. Novak sells a new "Terminator" AX15 for 1500 bucks. I like the fact that the 6 speed has a lower 1st gear. Also the CPS changes.

Call intermountain transmission exchange they have rebuilt a few trans for us lately and pricing and service have been great. Tell them Agility Customs sent you up there and they will hook you up.
